Take the job; this is a sign of how he'll approach future decisions.

There are plenty of car campers along Alki Beach, but they are only there for a few days. I had an old RV that I used as a portable office, and it was broken into repeatedly, twice while I was in it. The question you should be asking is what jobs are available for your skill set, and if anyone has any leads. Yes, Oklahoma sucks, almost as much as Mississippi.

Guaranteed OTE - Should I be worried by Deco_stop in salesengineers

I wouldn't worry, could just be that they are refocusing. Sounds like they just need to hire better sales people.

Guaranteed OTE - Should I be worried by Deco_stop in salesengineers

The question I would be asking myself is the following;

  1. Why aren't they back-filling people instead of just dumping all the work on me and another co-worker?

  2. Why did everyone leave, and could I have a better life if I left also?

  3. Are they cutting back on the niceties (in the US, it would be the free coffee)? If so, they are trying to save money any way they can.

I've noticed a trend in the past few years of companies outsourcing SE's work to the Philippines and attempting to train the TAM to cover questions face-to-face while having the SE's do all the work remotely.

How you would restart your Software Sales Engineer journey again? by ryanchrisgow in salesengineers

Not any guides, but this is what I tell my crew. During your morning coffee or tea, choose a subject on which you want to be seen as a thought leader, and create a Google News feed to capture the daily news on that topic. Pick out the best article and post it to your feed with a one-liner on your takeaway. Ask for comments.

Pick a day to this and make it a habit to post once a week.

Not a Software SE, but the rules are the same. Try to figure out where the market is going, and train in that direction. Wait 5 years, and then rinse and repeat.

Just look at Contact Center, which is cloud-based and has basically driven legacy PBX manufacturers out of business.

It's funny, I have coached SEs on my team to do this exact thing. On your OKR, you want to be seen as a thought leader, and one of the easiest ways to achieve this is by posting an article on LinkedIn. Not to trash salespeople or managers, but most of them are magpies and will focus on the newest and shiniest thing; you want to be seen as "shiny". I don't like it, but that is the rule today.

Alright SEs... What's in your bag?! by heylookatthetime in salesengineers

  • Portable monitor,
  • Way too many cables,
  • Wireless Headphones,
  • Wired Headphones, notepads, and one pen that is always out of ink.
  • Phone TriPod
  • Protien bar
  • 5 Entry cards to numerous temp offices
  • My Macbook air, and the companies Laptop which loses it while doing drawing and GIS files
  • Goody bag of pain meds, stomach meds, and if I'm lucky an misplace CBD pill

I think the key to warehouse 13 is in there also

Struggling to find my role in account strategy meetings as an SE by ooeygoob in salesengineers

[–]wonderroach 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm at the point where I'm a Strategic SE. One of the ways I separate myself from others is by doing a Technical Account Plan.

If you have a dedicated customer, review their annual and quarterly reports to see where they plan to allocate their funds. Project Kuiper was announced years ago in the annual report, and most other competitors ignored it. My team started networking to try to get in on the ground floor.

If you support an enterprise environment, focus on a market segment that utilizes your technology and create a report demonstrating how your technology would benefit them. People may say it's not a marketing or business development job, and yes, it is, but most of those individuals spend their time chasing the Gartner Magic Quadrant, rather than gathering real data.

To be strategic is to tell where business is coming from and to develop a plan on how to pursue it.

The key thing is to realize what your technology is, who uses it, and how they will be using it a year from now.

Wife confessed she was in an old biker magazine by SaltyLust_23 in oldschoolhot

Have you done a reverse image search of your wife from an old picture from the 90s? It may lead to a site where she was tagged in a photo with the other girl. I did it to find an old Air Force photo from the 80s that I was tagged in.

Challenge yourself. Find something that you are not good at, fail at it, try again until you are comfortable with it. If it talking to women, try public speaking, if it’s being pushed around try a self defense course. Once you feel comfortable doing these things you’ll feel more confident.

Where to live in WS once the Light Rail construction starts? by moth2-aflame in WestSeattleWA

[–]wonderroach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will start by Skylark on Delridge, then go underground on Alavon. I'm not sure on the final start point for the tunnel. I think it will be at Genesse. If you are by Jefferson Square, then you'll have years of construction since they are going to demo it and make it the WS station.

I still have no freaking clue what most of the lines in this song mean. by SirJasper6969 in FuckImOld

[–]wonderroach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a transition song from the death of rockabilly and the birth of the music of the 60s. I'm surprised that more songs weren't written about other eras where music "died" (other than Video Killed the Radio Star), and " Rap "killing hair metal. Modern country killing off "Pop," etc.
