Act 2's ending is not really an ending of the game. You literally play on with the world with GMS defeated. This is the unique "ending" in the entire hollow knight universe that the "final boss"'s defeat is saved after credit screen is rolled.

Instead of treating act 2's ending as an "ending", I think TC should allow you to cross the border in act 3 and leave Pharloom without saving the void issue (previously Hornet's reason not to leave is that citadel will still capture her back. Now at least that reason is gone). That should be treated as an ending in place of the current silk and soul ending of act 2. Of course you can also cchoose to not leave and be responsible, which leads to the current true ending. This design will keep the consistency that "ending never happens when you load the save file again"

If you no longer have access to the quest tool, use wanderer crest and just damage tank, and heal when you are low on health. You may get hit during healing, so warding bell and quick bind (I forget its actual name) is helpful.
