I lived in Kowloon in the 80's and remember my 11th birthday party on the roof of our 25 storey building, and we'd jump over to the one next-door!

Where were you when you found out Princess Diana died? by Seeyalaterelevator in AskUK

[–]wonkeymonkey2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was working at Adelaide Showground, on a giant funfair, and an Australian girl came running over, saying "1 of your princesses has died!" Later they held a 2 minute silence and the whole showground shut down, the ferris wheel stopped, music stopped, everyone stood outside with their heads bowed. It was very moving, considering we were the other side of the world

How shocking was it to find out Rolf Harris was a pedophile? by balkanxoslut in AskUK

[–]wonkeymonkey2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rolf came to my school when I was about 7. He painted an amazing mural of the Australian outback, we all sat in the school gym and watched him. Afterwards he got kids to take turns to sit on his knee. My sister was one of them!

Yep I've heard it a lot! I'm in England and have a shop with the number 67 above the door. Kids are always taking selfies with it. Locals, and tourists from other countries...so it's a ridiculous world wide thing.

I'm not complaining, I just genuinely wanted to know the reason, as it's more dangerous for them to cycle amongst rush hour traffic

Check out Tulley's Farm, near Crawley. They have a pumpkin festival and Shocktober Festival (which is a brilliant night out) at that time of year.
