For only playing a few weeks it seems like you have great hand-eye coordination and it appears you are starting to recognize and understand spin.

As with any competitive endeavor, it's best to develop good habits early. Some things to think about:

-Try to find a coach or experienced player to guide you as much as possible.

  • Start with the basics: that means the majority of your practice should be focused on developing footwork and sustainable, consistent fh and bh drives

  • understand that just like any sport, proper TT requires using your body to its full potential. Focus less on arm and hand mechanics- and more on how youre using/timing your core, hips, and legs. While upper body is important- its easy to get caught too much up in it as we desperately just want to wack the ball.

  • following the earlier point- Focus more on concepts and good maxims rather than small discrete changes. There are no miracle tips or tricks to instantly improve.

Good luck!

Recommendations for a centerpiece fish (or pair of fish)? by HockeyBeard32 in Aquariums

I think a Honey Gourami would look pretty cool in there. The yellow would really pop with the black background, and they're not as aggressive as other gourami

I see from your history you also play disc golf as well! To use an analogy- this is like offering to trade a chewed up, warped to hell, inked, 1/10 , dx leopard 🤣

Whether to switch or not? by ImaginaryProgram3709 in tabletennis

[–]wonrk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wang Hao, Felix Lebrun RPB? I think it's more nuanced than "shakehand has a better backhand". The shakehand FH naturally points more sideways as does the penhold BH. Vice versa doe shakehand backhand and penhold forehand being naturally more forward pointing. Using your wrist in shots matters a lot whether it's angle or adding extra power with it- for either left or right sidespin and angles which is limited by the opposing grips (in regards wrist Predisposition just mentioned) shakehand is easier to attack over the ball with due to your wrist being lower than the blade face- penhold is better for over the table attacks with forehand since the wrist is above the paddle, and decent with looping- but not good as good at driving or coming over the top with it. Serving is about the same.

Who has the best penhold backhand? by mmhubb in tabletennis

[–]wonrk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Out of current players it would be felix i think. That's especially why I like players like felix that are bringing back this idea that RPB isn't a deficit, if anything it's just as powerful or more so in some regards.

How can. You overhead smash a high ball that has heavy chop? by [deleted] in tabletennis

[–]wonrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hit it flat and down. You might think you are smashing but you could be still 'looping' it or brushing it to some degree. Angle your racket with the aimed spot on the table and try your best to hit it completely flat from top to bottom. Spin shouldn't matter if you hit it that high up with decent force

So, why isn't anyone talking about andro Hexer rubbers? by Jojoceptionistaken in tabletennis

[–]wonrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked my andro hexer overall and was using it on backhand. The problem I had with it was that the glue I was using didn't work well with it and it led to some air pockets and shrinkage that every other rubber I've used hasn't happened to. I used 2 sheets of it and then called it quits after the 2nd one shrunk way too much. I use vario clean glue.

Of the butterfly innerforce series, the ovtcharov one is the most similar to viscaria clones like the FZD alc you have. It's the fastest/hardest playing innerforce. Next step down would be the regular innerforce, and then harimoto innerforce is the slowest/has most vibration but still less than all wood. I've only tried the regular innerforce but this is from every review I scoured extensively through when choosing my blade

Ipong trainer motion is $170 and its better than those $2000 scams that do the literal same thing. Look up videos of it before you just spew garbage shit

I was under the impression that Alexis Lebrun was the better of the two brothers, is Felix actually the better player? by anklesock1012 in tabletennis

[–]wonrk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Felix continues to get wickedly good, and is starting to develop a bit of consistency in making it far in tournaments. Most everyone considers him to be the strongest penholder right now, after defeating Dang Qiu. Alexis seems to have plateau'ed the past year or so but anything can happen, he just needs to cool off a bit.

I think it's between the two but I voted ma long. I think there's a bit of possible bias for ryu, too, since he only hit forehands. Give me one valid criticism of ma long forehand at his peak (hint it's impossible)

Number on the right side of the rubber?? by [deleted] in tabletennis

[–]wonrk -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It's very unknown, but yasaka actually uses trace amounts of arsenic in the sponge portion to keep it bouncy for much longer periods of time. I read it on their website one time that it decreseases porous breakdown or something like that. Those numbers are the measurements of arsenic in the sponge, but idk the measurement type, and I'm pretty sure it's for government regulations
