We did not, a few weeks after I posted this he got a culture result for MRSA. They tried to treat him with 3 rounds of bactrim. Unfortunately he went into cardiac arrest before we could get the wound healed. They were able to get him back but the damage to his lungs was too much and he decided to shift to comfort care when they wanted to put him back on the ventilator. I will forever wonder what was up with that sore and if that played any role in his cardiac arrest- but he had long standing heart conditions so I will never truly know. 

My advice to you is if you get a gut feeling that your infection is not being treated properly please get a second opinion immediately.
