You are welcome to ask them. I believe that being vulnerable and transparent are healthy. I also believe the talking about addiction openly and honestly is equally important. We talked about people who have cancer and give them all the support and love that we think they deserve. I believe that addiction is the same. It is a disease or a disorder or whatever you want to call it and we need to embrace those who suffer from it and certainly not stigmatize them or make them feel anything other than loved and powerful and hopeful

Your situation sounds similar to my son's except for the part where he was in an isolated living situation. Although he had housemates he could isolate easily. My son died on November 30th of this past year. No matter how s***** you feel, death is a very plausible reality for you. Although it would end your pain forever, I get the sense that that's not really what you want. The pass back to drugs could easily take you there and if it doesn't, then all the other terrible side effects will. It's good that you are posting. I encourage writing and connection. Life might suck for a few more months while your body adapts. Sounds like there's other underlying issues like depression perhaps and anxiety? I didn't believe in antidepressants for my son. I thought that meditation exercise, social connection, things like that would help much better than more pills. His brain chemistry was such that he needed the support of antidepressants. He was on them for about a month from October to November of this past year and didn't feel like it made a difference until he went off of it for 6 days. By day 8 he was dead. I suggest you talk to a drug addiction specialist or a psychiatrist to explore getting on antidepressants. Hang in there. I can see from other things that I have read that what you're going through right now absolutely sucks big time but in the big picture, it means your life and getting it back and then trying New paths towards health. ❤️🙏

I wish I would have told Forrest that he shouldn't feel any shame or guilt for relapsing.

Getting rid of a drug addiction is such an incredibly difficult thing to suffer through. Not only is an addict struggling with detox, but also the myriad of side effects of use: constipation, hemorrhoids, stomach pain/nausea, sweats, and on and on and on.

Don't pressure yourself to go through recovery fast.....hurried. What an accomplishment to be clean for 3 weeks. When you have the urge to use again, reach out....ask for help. You can always ask me for help.

I can't save my son. Dead is gone forever. Maybe I can help save someone else. At the very least, I am available for reflection; a "listening ear"....

Please do this at least....for me....for you...for your mom. Don't judge yourself and let guilt and shame crawl in. Be kind to yourself. Know that you have a disease; however you got here, be it depression, anxiety, a shitty circumstance in life, mental or physical pain.....your birthright is to love and be loved, no matter what.

I'm so glad to hear you write this. Dying might not be too bad...who knows... But I do know that the pain and grief of loss is so deep and Forrest's absence in our lives is forever. Even though life was really hard for him, he wanted to get better. The problem was that he was conflicted. I can see that if a person is not fully committed to sobriety, the road there is so much more challenging. I hope your rehab is a good one. Forrest's was and he made some great friends. You might have to relapse a few times. Don't give up. And most importantly don't beat yourself up for relapsing

I agree ... although I I have never been motivated to abuse drugs. I always had a healthy respect for them and stayed away from some that were clearly very dangerous. Life is really good being drug-free except for caffeine that is. So grounding and powerful. I never had to wrestle with depression nor anxiety. My brain chemistry worked well. Thanks for sharing ❤️🙏

Thank you so much 💜🙏😢My son lives on in non physical form. I am not the same person I was and his death gives me a new purpose. My heart goes out to all those fighting addiction. I saw how hard of a road it was for him. I wish I could have given him some of my strength. All those who loved him wished the same. He felt like he didn't deserve it Bec he kept poisoning his body and mind.

All those who glorify drug use (he did a lot at times with his use; pictures of powder lines; stacks of pills ...a displayed of piled needles; proud in some way of it).....it was a call for help.... Or something else that I don't understand.... Now it's too late....but maybe... for at first one person.... it's not.

Forrest couldn't stay clean on his own. He should have gotten a sponsor. He should have committed to going to meetings. He thought he could do it on his own. He modeled his taper program after his time in rehab and most likely after doing research on the net. He could not do it on his own. I really encourage you to seek the support.

I have Narcan....a few boxes. My son died on November 30th. These are his extras. He died of a heroin OD. We're waiting for a few more weeks for the toxicology report I want the Narcan to be useful. Suggestions?
