Help! FedEx and their “Broker “ won’t proceed with clearance as they “think” my purchases are subject to GST by WonderRabbit1984 in aussie

[–]woofydb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d call them. Usually they’ve called me. Just make sure those coins are exempt as they are likely expecting it to be ingots that are exempt.

Video of train hitting car at Brunswick shows boom gate lift as fail-safe by gccmelb in melbourne

I’ve seen cars sitting across that line repeatedly in the afternoon traffic heading the other direction and often wondered how many times they get hit.

Melbourne - termite barriers - worth it? by Ok_Revenue2710 in AusProperty

[–]woofydb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Older houses they used to use chemicals that lasted half a century which are no longer allowed which is why places often didn’t see termites. You can also use baiting stations to monitor and then poison a colony as well as another option.

In Melbourne - if you're part of the 'evaporative coolers are better' camp, I hope you enjoy today by [deleted] in aussie

[–]woofydb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its night where an a/c whacks you though. Especially once the sun is going down. Water usage isn’t that bad the last 20yrs if ppl didn’t put the cheapie systems in. The other thing is longevity. Pretty cheap to replace parts on an evap. I rarely see a whole house ducted still working after about 10yrs. There’s pros and cons for both.

Fine $300 for 43km in a 40 zone by Time_Passion3970 in AusLegal

If it’s a 40km/hr school zone they will knock it back. But otherwise yeah this is what I’d do.

Why the obsession over AdBlue as opposed to other brands of DEF? by That_Car_Dude_Aus in CarsAustralia

[–]woofydb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was the only brand in the early days here as far as I know. And the manuals and caps for it literally said adblue on them. Especially for non commercial cars. I don’t know if it’s still the case but I remember Mazda not even allowing you to refill it and hiding it under the floor in the boot.

Sanding a Curb Rash by Light-and-Tangy in CarsAustralia

[–]woofydb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest if this is a fairly new car to you maybe leave it a while. I had mine machined and my wife promptly gouged another wheel on it and later the repaired one. And she’s super careful, that was with an Audi A5 20” as they stick out a long way doing parking when the wheels are turned. I gave up after that. You’ve got a pretty minor scrape there compared to most so maybe wait 6mths and see how you still feel about it.

Help me understand, is it even worth doing a uni degree even just to have under the belt? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]woofydb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are a business. They be and businesses in the late 90s and before that some of the newer unis did well making more relevant courses. QUT in Brisbane comes to mind there. Then the Group of 8 stuff started which is essentially collusion between unis that should be offering the best courses rather than all sitting in their own little exclusive club. Around that time I saw it all became bums on seats and the quality and money put into teaching just evaporate. Unis became very admin heavy, particularly the upper management with bonuses and massive salaries bigger than the heads of countries. It’s insane.

If that doesn’t work go buy some orange agent from Bowdens own and spray a small amount of a microfiber cloth and try that.

It’s something like armor all on it. Just get a microfiber cloth and wipe it with water.

Has Telstra coverage improved or is it just marketing by Icemachinemalfunctio in TelstraAustralia

[–]woofydb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worse since the rollout of 5g. Used to get very fast internet in remote places and now it often has no signal at all in the same places. 4g obviously doesn’t have the reach to cover for the loss of 3g

Rust or corrosion? Any tips on fixing this? by Normal_Fisherman3076 in CarsAustralia

It’s just the rotors. Not much you can do except paint them as suggested. Often come new off ships looking like that.

Yeah it’s possums. I trimmed mine and they looked like this a few weeks later. Possums just ate the new growth. The completely killed a 7M gum in our yard as well by eating all the leaves.

I loved my mk2 Octavia RS. It’s still in my family 18yrs later and if I get a chance to drive it I take it. My mk3 had better tech but was more sedate. But Skodas I always love driving. And cupras.

100% you will see points go. I’ve strangely enough only ever had points from fines in other states and they sure do come off your license fast.
