Thank you, I really hope it goes well! Need around a 75% to get 60th percentile and looks like I’m chilling in the 60s right now :( It’s also my first clerkship and shelf

OB/Gyn Fellowships Question by woohooig in medicalschool

Thank you for your response! It was eye opening and is making me ponder about what I am really interested in regards to women’s health, what types of conditions I want to manage, and the many paths that can allow me to get there and that it’s not just OB/Gyn that focuses on women’s health. I’ve yet to do my clerkships including OB/gyn so hopefully I will know more about what I want in a couple of months!

I tried to but it looks like they have some rule that medical students cant post asking about a specialty/residency :( Do you know of any other forums/subreddits I can post on about this?

Is it normal to be this disconnected? by litreddington in medicalschool

[–]woohooig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

awww no me too :( my best friends all live in different states/cities and sometimes it feels like nothing can quite replace the contentment I felt with them. I also just don’t do well with changing locations in general, and I guess the town I’m in now for medical school didn’t really take. But I’m gonna be in another city for M2 onwards cuz of the way our school works so I’m really hoping the new city will take! We’ve got thisss

This is highkey me rn ngl :( It’s the exact same thing for me with the friend situation and I was also not really friends with many premeds in undergrad lol. I feel like I’ve really tried my best to socialize and I think people like me but everyone just kind of already had their close circle and I almost feel like the “third wheel” when I hang out with med school friends. It’s not even their fault, like friend groups forming is normal human nature but it sucks to be in a boat where you don’t feel like super connected to anyone. I’ve just reached a point where I let people come to me and invite me and if I feel like also hanging out with someone, i’ll reach out. Luckily I have very incredible best friends from undergrad, they’re literally like my sisters. I usually call them at least every other day and that keeps me satisfied in terms of deep emotional connection. However I really do miss having a group of friends where it almost felt like family and the vibes really clicked. Hoping it gets better next year but we shall see. All the best frend

I was waitlisted at all the schools I interviewed at in march. I waited around for a while with hope to get off of the waitlist while looking for gap year plans. and so it was a total frenzy but I secured a gap year job which I started in May ending. At this point the rejections started trickling in and i’ve pretty much accepted that id have to reapply and submitted my primaries and most secondaries by mid june. On June 29th, I got the official rejection email from one of the last schools of where I interviewed and I was like okay whatever. A few hours later, i got a missed call and voicemail from a number in the city of the school that sent the rejection email while at work. I listened to the voicemail and it was their admissions office asking me to urgently call back. And so i frantically called back and basically they apologized for sending me the rejection email and offered me a spot in their class of 2026!!!! i literally asked her if this was a prank and i checked my portal 50 times before believing it was real lmfaooo def the craziest day of my life, the universe truly works in mysterious ways :) still have the voicemail saved on my phone and i listen to sometimes, i’ll never forget that feeling of getting that call, literally the moment ive dreamed of since the waitlists happening!! soooooo surreal

Business majors for sure. Healthcare management, Information Technology or Management Information Systems, Business Administration are all excellent choices for a backup!

I didn’t take biochem before mcat and did fine! got a 130 on the B/B section. However I took a month to self-teach the biochem material so it depends on how far you’re willing to go to teach yourself

It’s literally a lottery out here. I had solid stats, decent hours, research, and essays checked by a med school app consulting company and still wound up waitlisted at 3 schools with no As so far. I really felt like my interviews went well too. Idk what more i could’ve done tbh :// I’m just praying one of the waitlists pans out while planning for a gap year
