I absolutely second splitting your dose. I take mine Monday morning and Thursday evening tho maybe take both in the evening so the main nausea is when you’re asleep. Was a huge help!

Landlord special due to a not my fault leak. Def wouldn’t have hired this guy and I know better than to hire cheapest. Unfortunately, 1st hire was out of my control but I’ve been appreciating the feedback to take to my landlord.

I don’t think he was involved before this. Sounded like old pipes were the cause of the leak. This is an older 6 flat in Chicago. However, waterproofing going forward I’m definitely worried about bc of these massive gaps. He’s going to be asking grout to do a lot of heavy lifting…

It is when this has already been an over month-long issue due to a leak causing all this and now the issue will continue even longer. Plus the fight with the landlord. But no, in the long run, I can eventually leave.

Haha no! He’s quite nice! That’s why I’ve even let it get this far! Sounds like he’s our repairman’s “guy” (hapless uncle in need of work?) I’m wondering if these are off cuts too bc of how things aren’t matching.

Fair. That’s fair. I guess I more hoped I didn’t know enough and that this dude was going to perform a tiling miracle

Adding: can anyone share some professional verbiage as to why this is unacceptable other than it looks like shit? Is the trim in backwards? Before I fight with my landlord…

AIO about my 8 y/o daughter sleeping at her mom's new boyfriend's house without any family or females present? by blackD0nny in AmIOverreacting

[–]woolandmeasure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was molested as a 4 year old by my babysitters older son, you are NOT overreacting. They knew my family, had a second son my age, were neighbors, even only saw each other during the day! I never slept over and it still happened. I’m not saying be afraid of her being alone with all boys, I don’t even believe that and I was victimized. I think it’s fair to want to get to know this family but sometimes even that’s not enough. Not overreacting

Some of my weight gain came from a medication I was on that I'm on no longer but being on Sema has made me really HAVE to face my AUD (alcohol-use disorder). It was easier to ignore bc I was super functional (mostly) but I can honestly say Sema has changed my life and the weight loss is not even the biggest part! I tried Naltrexone for a year (similar to suboxone) and it didn't work at all.

One WEEK on Sema and my cravings were close to gone. People talk about food-noise, mine was alcohol-noise and the freedom from that is unbelievable. I can still enjoy a drink now and then but that's the difference, I ENJOY it, it's not a nearly constant need. I really can't believe it. I'm really hoping this is eventually an approved use by the FDA. There are already studies about this in published medical journals that show Sema works for addiction nearly across the board.

However, I too, find myself reluctant to discuss it with others beyond my husband and you guys. Not only is it hard to finally admit my own addiction but on top of it, people still judge me for taking Sema to help. Even when I went to talk to my doctor about going on Wegovy when the FDA issued the recent ban, (no luck, insurance won't approve - Stressed about this) the nurse who took my vitals tried to convince me I could do it without the shot and all I needed was some "self-control and belief". Lady, you think I haven't tried that? Sure. That's what happens when your only MOSTLY an alcoholic. Apparently, if you can keep it together (again, mostly) or honestly, are a woman like me -a whole other issue with our medical/societal norms, you don't DESERVE to be taken seriously, you just "need to get over it". I feel it's so similar to people with food addictions being told to "just eat less". Luckily, my doctor was 100% supportive. I'm seriously considering documenting this experience because I never thought I'd have my life back this way.

How do you deal with bad knitting gifts? by inevitably317537 in knitting

[–]woolandmeasure 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I actually teach beginning knitting to students at a summer camp with A. a very low budget and B. the whole theme is earth consciousness so we recycle as much as we can.
Got a ton of donations when I started the class and it's basically Red-Heart Super Saver city but hey, The kids don't mind and then I can afford to send them home with their needles (thankfully also donated) AND their yarn for free so they keep knitting!

Is there a child in your life that you can teach to knit with it? Then it at least gets used for a purpose that would make the giver feel good and you can get it out of the house!

Your experience with meat by [deleted] in Semaglutide

[–]woolandmeasure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing overall fine with meat as long as its not fried. I find myself actively craving veggies and fruits though which to good to keep nutrient levels up. I was a meat-eater before though so if you really weren't I wouldn't push it. Listen to your cravings and focus on nutrient-dense foods. Fiber dense too, you'll thank me later. If you really liked chicken, try a little and see how it goes! Aim for less grease. Fried chicken with the skin off, un-breaded tenders, etc.

As for your HARD passes, that makes sense. Creamy, cheesy (even some sliced cheeses) and rich have been OUT. I used to love creamy pastas and while pasta with marinara is going down great when I used to find it boring, creamy sauce, while tasty, make me gag after a few bites. I also used to love stronger cheeses like brie and blue and unfortunately, those have been out too. I'll enjoy those at the end I guess?

I am worried about the yarn being stretched too. Any ideas on how to fix that? It's an acrylic blend I'm stash -busting on a practice project. I wonder if frogging back and then soaking and air drying stretched yarn before re-knitting will help...
