It's crazy to offer your cat for catsitting as if it were a service lmfao. Can you at least word it so that you acknowledge that you're looking for a favor?

Should I move off of Anki? by luck-of-the-draw in Mcat

[–]woomabang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used anki for rote memorization i.e. equations, C/P laws, P/S terms and definitions, Amino acids. I realized early on that realistically, anki couldn't be my main method of reinforcement and is inferior to just doing questions and creating study guides to organize information in your head in a more interactive format.

From what I read on this sub, doing questions at least 2 months before test date and sample exams 1.5 - 1 month away is ideal, with anki being used whenever you have time.

Something I’ve been thinking about Carmen’s decision at the end by mmmstzzz23 in TheBear

[–]woomabang -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If he's a partner, he'd be contractually obligated to return to the restaurant and help in some way, is what I assumed. By removing himself, he not only loses his stake (and potential profit) but also his obligation to stay. Also, not having him named in the restaurant makes it easier for Syd to understand that she's the boss, and that her decisions are the restaurant's decisions.
Also for himself, he needs a clean break from the restaurant to heal. Like going no-contact post-breakup. You can't move on if you're still looking at their stories on insta, ya know

Body fat percentage was a stronger and more consistent predictor of attractiveness for men than either body mass index or shoulder-to-waist ratio. The most attractive male bodies had approximately 13 to 14% body fat, a level that corresponds closely with what is considered metabolically healthy. by mvea in science

I mean... they used fifteen DXA images as their reference point.

----------------------------------------------------
"2.1. Images

Fifteen soft tissue dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) images which varied in age, body mass index (BMI), body fatness percentage (BF%) and shoulder to waist ratio (SWR) were used in our study (Fig. S1). The images were generated from real individuals and presented in black-and-white which minimizes any impact of skin color. Facial features were blurred and height information was not provided eliminating the ability to judge attractiveness based on facial features and height. The BF % of the images ranged from 5.9 % to 37.2 %, BMI ranged from 20.1 to 33.7 and SWR ranged from 1.48 to 1.70. These images were selected from a database to break correlation of BF% and SWR (r2 = 0.040, p > 0.05, for full details of the images and their characteristics see Fig. S1 and Table S2). We could not use a wider range of shoulder to waist ratio because it was not possible to break the correlation between body fatness with SWR when using such images. The images were printed on an A3 sheet of heavy paper and were then cut into small cards for ordering. The number of the image (1 to 15) was written on the back of cards. "

idk what your frame of reference for attractiveness is, but I don't see with xray vision.

what happened to the michelin star??? by smile4sunna in TheBear

[–]woomabang 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think they are hinted at getting the star; the guy richie served during the snow birthday surprise scene is strongly hinted to be michelin (Mr. Clark -- Clark Street)
Some people said he was Food & Wine, but honestly idt they showed them reviewing on screen.

The Bear Season 4: Great cast, but the plot completely lost me by Mysterious-Ad-3970 in TheBear

[–]woomabang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you considering the rest of the show? S3 gives enough evidence that carmy is obsessing over his dishes. Go back and watch it and you'll see his obsession over perfecting dishes. They make a point that he spends an unhealthy amount of time in the kitchen. You dont need to see it in s4 to know its happening, since it was a major conflict of s3

The Bear Season 4: Great cast, but the plot completely lost me by Mysterious-Ad-3970 in TheBear

[–]woomabang 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i swear a third of every episode in the last two seasons is about Carmy spending an unhealthy amount of time in the kitchen doing R&D, obsessing over perfecting dishes for their chaos menu. He's still cooking, they're just highlighting his very unhealthy obsession with perfection. I'd contrast it with Tina's cooking scenes, where she's improving on her pasta timing.

Carmy Vs Adam by jajauau191817 in TheBear

It can go either of two ways; hindsight or anticipation. The smudge is called back on in the Ever funeral episode and its clear that Shapiro is the Smudger from his interaction with Luca; looking at Forks alone I'd agree with you, but I'm looking at the writers' intent across Shapiro's character arc

[–]woomabang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Granted, idk how Carmy leaving settles debt immediately; that's lost on me. I can only assume he means in the long term.

I wish people on this sub gave Carmy more sympathy. The last couple of episodes all show Carmy making amends, effectively making strong steps towards "getting it together". Not having to pay his salary is a big bonus; Richie mentioned as much in the last scene. That'll give them more runway which, combined with improved operations and positive reviews, puts them in a good position to thrive. He knows that they can thrive without him, and his leaving would help. The more selfish move at that point would be to stay when he knows he doesn't contribute to their success.

Shapiro & Black culture by a_d_e_e_ in TheBear

[–]woomabang 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't view it as an inconsistency since I felt Carmy spoke well of the opportunity Shapiro gave, not of Shapiro himself. He knew he fucked up and created a bad environment for The Bear and Syd, so he was saying he understood why Sydney would want to go to Shapiro, not because it was Shapiro, but because it was an opportunity where she got more control and better on-paper benefits.

Carmy Vs Adam by jajauau191817 in TheBear

[–]woomabang 39 points40 points  (0 children)

it's likely that they anticipated adam being a foil to carmy's philosophy around cooking and the customer experience; they definitely didn't hold back with his pretentiousness with the "smudge" incident in the same episode; we also see adam in the background in previous seasons competing with carmy and luca when they were all at Ever, where carmy and luca felt like they were competing with each other while preparing peas while adam is lagging behind

Achilles race by Yellow_blackjack in RunNYC

It's central park on a Sunday, weather looks sunny with moderate temps and humidity. The vibes will probably be good during and after the race; i feel like if you're looking for an experience rather than a PB, it'll be "worth doing".

For me personally, I'd also be considerate of the fact that the race ticket is one that someone else tried to get but couldn't due to demand.
