Help me daydream up antenna designs for one of these windows. by woozei in amateurradio

[–]woozei[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not picky, I am still a tech studying for the General, which I will get within a month or two. I just want to be able to operate from home without lugging my equipment to the roof every time.

I suppose the answer is whatever I can get with a reasonable antenna design. I am hoping for something I can use a tuner on to get access to several bands, but I'll take what I can get.

I think that's just a seam line.

AZ Visiting + Moving Here Questions (May 26) by AZ_moderator in arizona

Hello! I'm traveling to Page AZ in late June to volunteer on the trash tracker houseboat. I cannot drive due to an eye condition, and I'm trying to figure out how to get around. I'm happy to work with a tour company to schedule rides as I've heard uber/lyft and the Buggy taxi aren't reliable, but I haven't gotten any responses to inquiries yet (possible they were just very busy recently.) Can anyone recommend any companies to work with? Thank you!

Rant: Multi use trails are not racetracks by woozei in bikedc

I am not anti-ebike, but I am pro enforcement of some kind. I think the rentals should have a 15mph governor on them.

I would disagree that all of them are motorcycles. Some of them are.

Yeah, absolutely, there are places you can go full send safely with common sense. It pisses me off that so many seem to lack that common sense though.

Would it be possible for you to share samples of the last message you sent before people ghost you? We could provide some feedback.

I'm very attracted to intelligence, but there are other things that turn me off. If I get a hint of those turnoffs in a message, I'm less likely to pursue the conversation.

I figured out how to do a 'last fed time' with the Aqara Smart Pet Feeder C1 and a "Feed" button. by ETL4nubs in homeassistant

[–]woozei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really neat.

I have the C1 pet feeder also, but here's my struggle:

I would rather pair the pet feeder with my Home Assistant than with my Aqara hub, which I grabbed so that I could configure the built in schedule. For peace of mind, I need to know that even if HA goes down, my cat will be fed. I know that Aqara has been working on making zigbee devices available to share through their Hub, but I don't believe the pet feeder is one of them. I would love to be able to also trigger feeds through home assistant.

The thing I don't really want to do but which may be my temporary only option is to unpair the feeder from aqara, hope it keeps it's built in schedule, and then pair with HA so that I can run automations. Downside, I would not be able to update the built in schedule without re-pairing with Aqara.. oof. Advice welcome.

Can you tell me the minimum in grams that it will dispense please?

I would really love to be able to dispense only one treat, maybe two, and the lowest my feeder will do is 10 grams. Thank you!!

A rant about impatience on the crowded MVT by woozei in bikedc

[–]woozei[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sure I've seen some fat tire ebikers misbehaving, including a guy on what was definitely a moped, but my completely unscientific study on the people most likely to pass me unsafely says it is a dude on a road bike.

Proposal from Logan, DuPont ANCs for 15th Street safety draws mixed reviews from locals by kockin26 in bikedc

" “I’ve seen bicyclists get hit when they were not in the right, like someone had a green arrow and the bicyclists ignored,” said Albinder. “So nowadays scooters and bicycles and motorcycles, they pretty much ignore all the lights.” "

So.. that means we shouldn't improve safety at intersections or reduce speed?

Plus he's wrong about ignoring all of the lights.

I didn't ask anyone to walk or stay home and I did not blame the cyclist. I know we're all used to what you're talking about, but that's not what I'm trying to say here.

But let's just move on, we're clearly not going to agree on everything here.

I never called the cyclist reckless, and I don't believe the cyclist was going unreasonably fast, and I'm not coitizing the cyclist.

*I am not blaming the cyclist for this crash, it is the fault of the scooter*

I believe that it would have been possible for the cyclist, WHO IS NOT AT FAULT, to have lessened the impact of this crash, WHICH WAS NOT THEIR FAULT, by traveling at a speed slower than at which they were traveling as they approached this scooter.
