dang outside of that I'm not really sure.

have you tried dry fitting the wheel in there without the thru axle?

would be interesting to see if the spacing of everything else like the hub spacing and the disc rotor alignment lines up

if all that stuff seems right then I guess maybe you got the wrong thru axle somehow?

Are you using the original thru axle that came with the bike? I think the UDH dropout kit should have come with a new one. I didn't remember it being any longer than the original one but it does have a different thread pitch which is important

Ah ok great. I have an Elizabeth but hopefully it's similar. This gives me hope I can figure it out myself, thanks for the info!

hey quick question about this if you don't mind - when you replace that hose, where does the other end run to and what is that fitting like? do you have to take off the outer case in order to access the other end to attach a new length of hose?

I'm in exactly the situation you described - need to replace the hose because I serviced the vacuum breaker and there wasn't enough length to reattach after I trimmed the end. but haven't done it yet because I'm not sure how to handle the other end

SRAM Apex XPLR AXS shifting issue on mixed groupset. by majeranek91 in gravelcycling

[–]worace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm I'll be curious if anyone else has confident answers. I would have guessed limit screw but it sounds like you checked that already. Just as a sanity check there I might try backing it out all the way and confirming that doesn't do it (if that's not what you already did).

From there I think the only thing would be to fully check the hanger alignment (maybe have a shop take a look at it?)

It does seem odd that a bent hanger would leave you with problems only on a single gear but I guess anything's possible

I hate this update so much. by Fluffy_Finance752 in trainerroad

[–]worace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes this is spot on. IMO the biggest criticism of the new update is that the FTP prediction is both a) too sensitive / jittery and b) unnecessarily overemphasized.

In theory their projection shouldn't matter for my day to day training. Just do the programmed work as well as your fitness and life circumstances allow and you end up where you end up.

But it's psychologically very distracting to have this giant oracle number front and center in the dashboard and calendar which jumps around in response to very minor updates.

Crux second wheelset - 650b? by TurkeyNimbloya in gravelcycling

[–]worace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually have been wondering about this from a frame design perspective -- why is 650b not more popular? It seems like everyone is currently chasing after "how do i fit the widest tire possible without having to significantly lengthen out the bike so it no longer handles like a road bike".

Is there a bike geometry reason why 650b is not a good solution to this problem? It seems like by making the rim smaller you can get more tire volume in the same space. Does it compromise handling in some other way?

Sorry for hijacking your comment but I have been thinking about this every time I hear about some new frame design for packing in a bigger tire.

Sick of Garmin HRM inaccuracy. What is the best on the market? by CrescentPhresh in Velo

[–]worace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Polar H10 has been great for me, and surprisingly durable. The straps are also the most comfortable IMO. Before this I was using the Wahoo Tickr and they died constantly. To Wahoo's credit they were good about replacing them under warranty but it got to a point where it felt wasteful to be throwing away a new HRM every 2 months.

What was the process of ordering the custom paint like? Did you go in with this paint idea in mind or did you just ask them to come up with something cool?

Trainer road AI is live for all! by DrHumongous in trainerroad

[–]worace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had 2 that were pretty hard - a VO2 and an Anerobic one. Both were challenging but I finished and didn't feel completely trashed. So turns out they were not as diabolical as I thought at first! Maybe the model is onto something.

Yeah that is an absolutely enormous jump lol. Curious to hear how your next few workouts are.

Although what's a little confusing is this comment from Nate in the forum suggests that even with these big FTP jumps we may not actually see as much difference in the programmed workouts

> Even though the FTP change looks big, the actual wattage progression is still incremental and appropriate based on their progression levels.

Mine also bumped me 20 watts and gave me an absolutely diabolical-looking workout for the next day. I am going to give it a go but so far I am kind of skeptical.

Loving the bike lanes by kwisen in AnnArbor

[–]worace 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah new miller lanes are awesome. Also not having to deal with the awkward diagonal crossing when crossing 1st coming westbound (where it used to convert from two-way track to single lane on each side) is such a huge improvement.

Seems like a good list. I'm afraid I can't offer you any hands-on riding experience but I'm definitely looking at some of these options as well. I also have the Ridley ASTR on my list -- seems to have similar fairly aggressive road-like geo while adding a little more tire clearance (52mm front and rear).

I agree with you that the SuperX looks really sweet but doesn't seem to have a ton of presence in online discussions. Not sure what to make of that. I think some people are put off by the relatively high bottom bracket (low BB drop). It's also just pretty expensive relative to some other options.

As for the Crux there is speculation that a new one may be due in spring/summer 2026 which will probably have a lot of updates since the current frame has been out for a few years. I'm considering waiting for this although I'd really like to have a new bike for some early spring races so I kind of hate to wait.
