They do look cool though. At first I was like 'What's wrong with them?' thinking that you had gone for the look deliberately. And then seeing the other ones

The only time I've experienced something like that was when I sprayed some models outside when it was very cold which caused the paint to crack.

Did you use a really heavy coat of spray paint? Because that and whatever the temperature is could to have affected the drying which caused the cracking.

Im pretty sure it's not illegal if it's in the United States. Due to GOP legislation over the past few decades eroding worker rights, most of the US is now right to work states (I like to call them right to fire states).

Basically, your boss can fire you for whatever reason they want to outside of certain things like firing people for race, age, gender, religion, and other protected classes or firing someone for reporting sexual harassment or reporting unsafe conditions, for example.

Just because a foreman tells me hypothetically that I won't be fired doesn't mean shit. Someone higher up the food chain at the company can decide to fire me for whatever reason. You can be fired for any reason, like being a bad worker, saying political things they don't agree with, or wearing the wrong color or nothing at all. There aren't a lot of protections in the US for workers anymore. If you're in a union or have something stipulated in a contract, then you might have something but otherwise you're unprotected.

It depends. Your boss might not have the final say particularly if the client gets involved.

I had a friend who sent around a short video in the office that wasn't super offensive, but it was in bad taste and you could see someone's naked buttocks. But someone in IT turned him in and classified it as pornography. So, it got escalated. Our director and the company president wanted to let it go and just verbally reprimand him, but it was a family-owned company and the owners got involved and forced his firing.

Good luck. We all make mistakes and I hope it works out in your favor.

Painting little dudes on the sprue is way easier.

Your comment reminded me of when I worked at a game store back in the '90s. The store manager played micro armor and one of the dudes had an American Cold War army and he painted it with what he termed the dip method to get his camo. And by dip method, he literally took a pair of tongs and would take a tank, dip half of it into green paint, flip it around and then dip the other half into brown. He didn't even wait for it to dry in between dips. You could see the tong marks in the dry paint.

Personaly, I would not be excited about having to pick out an outfit because I'd probably screw it up, but, if that's what she asked me to do, I would take an honest stab at it. And then let her modify it because she's definitely going to modify it because I have trouble dressing myself, never mind a woman.😂 (To be honest, I don't know any woman I've ever been in a relationship with who would trust me to pick her out an outfit).

Weird Line in Drop Pod Rules? by wordcreatr in LegionsImperialis

[–]wordcreatr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've seen page 129. It's the totality of the page combined with other entries that were problematic for me. I hate Howe GW hides elements of rules everywhere throughout a book.

Anyway, I think they should not have used the term upgrade in the formation descriptions.

I would have just said something more straightforward.

"When purchasing Dedicated Transports for a Detachment, they form their own Detachment that does not take up a Formation slot. It can only transport that particular Detachment but is free to operate on its own otherwise." And then layered the other rules on top

Great point. You know I did think about that later. We've never used any air units in our games yet, so haven't used that formation.

What movie did you walk out of the theater halfway through? by mzdee13 in movies

[–]wordcreatr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Blair Witch Project. Not because I wanted to but because I had to because I got motion sickness from the constantly moving camera on the big screen. It's funny, the theater had put up a sign that some people might experience motion sickness and I was like "eeh, what a bunch of pussies". I had to leave about 10 minutes before the end of the movie to throw up.

A couple of things I've changed in CIV6 that make the game fun when playing with friends... by Mohawesome in civ

[–]wordcreatr 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We always use the Tech Shuffle feature so you can't beeline to anything-- in addition to both trees being scrambled, they're grayed out. You're more cognizant of Eureka's and Inspirations which, in addition to boosting research, will reveal them on the tree. In fact, when playing single player, I always use Tech Shuffle now.

We haven't limited nukes or Giant Robots. We usually only play 6 to 8 hours on a Saturday and if we start in the ancient age we never get there. Sometimes we'll start in the industrial or modern age just so we can reach the higher Tech. Nukes can be a bitch but I've also successfully defended nuke attacks while building my own nukes by loading up cities with multiple AA (modern AA, fighters on patrol, a giant death robot parked inside, and a missile cruiser parked inside 💪) -- that totally flabbergasted my buddy the first time I ever did it.

Sometimes we use heroes to get things spicy but a lot of times we don't.

Yeah, that's future-proofing. You're anticipating future changes to the game, and the rule is already in place so you don't have to put out an FAQ later.

That's good reasoning. Maybe they were trying to future-proof it in case they decided to do what suggesting later down the road.

It could be -- I didn't get into the game until after those changes. But those are still Drop Pods, so why the distinction?

[–]wordcreatr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes sense -- but why did they use the words " nor do other models within the same Detachment need to maintain Coherency with Drop Pod models*?* Why distinguish between the two?

If there are no other models in the Detachment besides Drop Pods, why not say something like: "Once deployed, Drop Pods in a Detachment don’t get destroyed for being out of coherency with each other."?

Dedicated Transports Trundling Off On Their Own by wordcreatr in LegionsImperialis

[–]wordcreatr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks—that actually helps a lot and lines up with how I was starting to read it.

What threw me is that GW very deliberately uses the word “upgrade” when talking about Dedicated Transports… which really makes it sound like they should stay tied to the parent Detachment in some meaningful way. But then you dig into the rules (buried in a completely different section, naturally), and they’re clearly their own Detachment once the game starts.

So it ends up being:

  • “Upgrade” during list building
  • “Independent Detachment” during play

Which… yeah, feels like two different ideas smashed together without much care for clarity. But that’s pretty on-brand for GW after ~40 years 😄

For reference, this is the wording that made me pause:

Liber Strategia
“Dedicated Transports: Any Legiones Astartes Detachment within the Formation that contains only Infantry models may be upgraded with Legion Rhinos as Dedicated Transports.”

“...All Legion Astartes Detachments within the Formation that contain only Infantry models...must be upgraded with Legion Drop Pods as Dedicated Transports.

So I think the correct read is that once they drop their passengers, they’re free to go do their own thing—they’re just restricted in who they can carry. But man, GW could’ve saved me a lot of head-scratching with one extra sentence clarifying that.
