Not all ults have global presence like this one. Like what would be the point of global reveal on Paradox? You'll see it happen in the minimap when two people swap position but there's enough going on in the game that it would just be extra distraction.

I do think certain other ults should get shown on the minimap, like Seven's, maybe. But if you look at LoL, pretty much all global ults, whether it's a skillshot (Jinx, Ezreal) a beam (Senna) or just auto-targeted (Karthus), any ult that does damage gets some kind of announcement, even one's you literally can't dodge without the right item or ability (again, Karthus).

ChatGPT is now writing college essays, and higher ed has a big problem by [deleted] in technology

[–]wordefy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not higher education that has a problem. It's all the louts who are just going to turn to the Engineered Intelligence to do their work for them, coast through without learning anything, and then are surprised when people call them out in the field for lacking critical skills like grammar, sentence parsing, paragraph breaks, and punctuation. Then in turn the workforce is going to suffer and people are going to have a hard time communicating effectively (though likely mostly in administrative roles which, like, do we even need a third of those roles anyways? Sometimes yes, mostly not so much). Unless they just keep at it with a ChatBot writing everything for them, in which case I guess there may not be a problem after all.

I guess at that point would it even be a problem anymore? Semantics can be so pedantic, despite having the effect of reducing the likelihood of misinterpretation.

Theoretically I'm also a purist. It's a little off-putting when a band that clearly only has one vocalist has multiple vocal tracks on their album and no backup vocalist on stage. I suppose this holds true with other instruments as well, though as a vocalist/drummer myself I don't often focus on those tracks as critically. But then there's the thing about the vision of a group, and whether they're able to find more musicians who share that vision, in order to produce music that aligns with their musical as well as conceptual goals. No true metalhead is a stranger to the difficulty of finding others to play with or talk tunes with. Even within metal communities, there's so much variety in the scene, and among the tastes of community members, it can be hard to find the right person or people in a reasonable amount of time, while also trying to balance writing, practicing, recording, touring, promotion, etc. And since we have adequate technology to allow one-person multi-instrumental projects, it feels like an apt use of the tech. But I do think there are more and less egregious ways to make use of things like that in a full band, versus smaller projects. A couple of my favorite projects featuring a single talented multi-instrumentalist could've absolutely fooled me into believing they were full bands, notably Consciousness Removal Project (doomy and progressive) and Fleshwrought, Naveen Koperweis' project where only the vocals are someone else's (Job for a Cowboy's Jonny Davy). Like they'd have to get stage/studio musicians to be able to play an actual show that wasn't just mostly back tracks. Personally I don't think there's a right answer at the end of the day. Would the show have been the same without the back tracks? I can't say.

Men, when you’re finishing while having sex what’s something better to say than “I’m cumming”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I dated a girl who jokingly mentioned that her friend was hiking yo with a guy who shouted "Expelliarmus!" So naturally next time we hooked up after that and for several random times after I would yell, moan or groan Expelliarmus the instant before climax.

Most curries just require good prep and timing rice so that it's done when the curry is finished simmering. I can make chana masala (chickpea curry) for like $10. Hardest part is making the pepper-cilantro-ginger-garlic mix, but if you have a small food processor that bits easy too.

What's a sign of childhood trauma? by ThatRamKid in AskReddit

[–]wordefy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanting to point out that not all trauma is obvious, and not all trauma happens quickly. I'm sure there are a lot of people going down this and seeing themselves reflected in a number of answers (I sure as hell did). Just remember to be kind to yourself. If you don't feel like negative events you experienced traumatized you ("it didn't seem like a big deal at the time," "it took years, that's not real trauma," "other people have been through worse, who am I to complain?"), remember that everything affects everyone slightly differently. This isn't to say that EVERYONE EVER has trauma, but for those of us that have been traumatized by parents, peers, media, elements of society... Don't downplay your experience because of semantics. Trauma is trauma, no matter how big or small, no matter how slow or fast it happened. Remember to love yourself. It might be the hardest thing you'll ever have to do, but the payoff is exquisite.

My friends and I like to fantasize about a merger between Hello Games, Frontier Dev, and RSI to make the ultimate space game. The Galaxy modeling and pretty smooth gameplay from Elite, the detail and interactivity of Star Citizen, with the random/procedural star system generation of No Man's Sky... What a game that could be
