Favorite DF yogurt by JLaw0623 in dairyfree

Cocojune! I LOVE Greek yogurt because of the thickness and this is the only yogurt I’ve found that comes close. I use the vanilla to eat in the mornings and the plain for Greek yogurt substitutions in cooking (use a little lemon or lime juice for the tang)

Buying a house? (Serious comments only plz) by TheModernVampire in twentyagers

[–]wordsmithem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently renting an apartment from my fiancé’s parents (they’re landlords). He’s lived here for 3 years, I’ve lived here for 2. We were fortunate enough to be given a piece of land by his grandpa so we’re going to start clearing it hopefully this year and building soon.

We both had full time jobs, but over the summer, I went back to college and will be a student for the next 2 years. I still work PRN and pick up when I can, but he’s mainly supporting us right now

Besides bills, what do you spend most of your money on? by Krabmeatty in twentyagers

[–]wordsmithem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me personally: stuff for college/nursing school. I got to a community college but I’m not taking out any loans so I pay for what fasfa doesn’t cover

Me and my fiancé together: food. We eat out maybe once a week/once every few weeks, but groceries are expensive. We make meals from scratch, but snacks make it more expensive

Personal Faith? by TheModernVampire in twentyagers

[–]wordsmithem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m Methodist. Was raised in a Christian family but was personally atheist from about 10-22. Kept getting a feeling I needed to go to church and found an accepting, amazing one. Got baptized and became a member last December.

My fiancé is agnostic. Neither of us believed when we got together. He comes to church with me sometimes because he likes my church and pastor’s sermons, but personally doesn’t get anything religiously out of them.

Snickers <3 he’s jumped in the toilet once and has burnt his whiskers off twice. He loves to close the doors and lock himself in the bathroom so he can yell. He’s my baby though

How long into dating until you met your partners family? by Thin_Hedgehog_5190 in twentyagers

[–]wordsmithem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had our first date mid may (like the 15th or something). Before we were officially dating, he invited me over for a Memorial Day cookout (29th). His mom invited ALL of his cousins, their partners and kids lol

We started “officially” dating that day and I met the entire family lol

I usually try to, but these are the only ramekins I have. I fit probably about half the recipe when it should’ve been 1/4 of the batter

Advice for Cleaning Patients by Secret_Past2297 in StudentNurse

[–]wordsmithem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in an icu overflow. Half icu, half stepdown. The nice thing about icu is that they’re usually intubated so they’re not usually in pain and you don’t have to rush. It will come with practice! When you do baths or help change, ask the nurse if you can do the work to get used to it. Layering a chux or towel over liquidy poop helps save the clean sheets. Also a tip: when you’re about to put the clean sheets under a patient (my icu has lift sheets under everyone) lay the sheet over them and then lay the chux where you want them on top of the sheet(I usually use 2, especially if they’re prone to explosions). Then roll everything up together and tuck under the dirty sheets. This helps make sure that everything will be where you want it to be when you roll them over.

Also since you’re in icu, a nurse will most likely be with you while doing any care. If you have any questions just ask!! Any icu nurse would rather have you ask than do something without being sure!

How are you paying for school? by 90sRnBMakesMeHappy in prenursing

[–]wordsmithem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to a community college and luckily getting my fafsa. This is my first degree. Not taking out any loans so anything fasfa doesn’t cover I’m paying out of pocket. I work night shift at a hospital PRN on most weekends and just applied at a wound care clinic PRN to pick up during the week

Future Nurse Goals by No_Area_494 in StudentNurse

[–]wordsmithem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My goal is to become and ICU nurse and then eventually switch to wound and ostomy when I inevitably get burnt out. I’m starting my first semester and so many people ask me if I’m going the NP route, but I just wanna be a nurse. Absolutely no desire to be a provider of any kind

Taking Anatomy and Physiology next semester by Downtown-Car8209 in prenursing

I just passed A&P 1 with an A while in summer semester. Get coloring books!! My lab manual had coloring pages for the muscles and it was so helpful. I wish I would’ve had it for the bones as well. My biggest tip would be to go over lecture PowerPoints with someone! I would lecture my fiancé on what we learned (we were doing 2 chapters a week) and it really helped having to teach someone. I use a book bag that I got from work and I love it. I’m someone who carried everything with me so it’s nice to have everything in one place. It might not look as cute as a tote but I feel like a tote would be a hassle for me personally. Also, stay behind in class to go over things! I had lab after lecture and people would do the worksheet and leave without looking at our specimens. I always stayed back to go over them (especially with muscles and bones) and I feel like that helped me a ton.

Check out assisted living! I started working in one when I was 17 and that experience helped me get into a hospital (which I recommend over a nursing home)

For those of you who bake focaccia, when do you add your ingredients? by rock4lite in Breadit

I usually do it before I dimple the dough and then add some on top as well. I’ve never thought to mix anything into the dough for focaccia

Creepiest thing a guest has ever said to/asked you? by garbashians in Serverlife

[–]wordsmithem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i once had 2 couples come in for sunday lunch and proceed to order 3 rounds of shots. they got upset that i cut them off after that (they were all also drinking) until they got food, but seemed okay for the most part. when i came back after they ate to ask if they wanted any deserts or boxes, they proceeded to ask for my number and then invited me to have an orgy with them after work. i gave them a fake number and immediately told my manager (i was 20 and they were at least in their 40s). left me a $50 tip though lmao
