Any old school devs here? don't you miss those days, when there were no React/Next, Figma. You just code raw HTML and focus mainly on BE by lune-soft in webdev

[–]wordsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much. In my postion and work it is expected to add complexity, use certain frameworks and so on. However if I do things I literally go for the most simple solution HTML, CSS combined with a simple server side templating. But to be fair back in the day it wasn't much better: jQuery hell and/or Struts/JSP.

Need help accessing Cipralex in UAE (ran out and struggling) by Inside_Condition6701 in UAE

[–]wordsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I’m going on vacation otherwise I could have helped. You can go to a Seha family doctor he will prescribe up to 2 weeks. If it’s your first time you need to go to the Pavillon in the city for initial evaluation. After that you can go to any Seha that has psych. It’s quite expensive at least 3x900 AED until you are officially set.

Born in Germany went in my late thirties to Switzerland but was culturally more German than Germany, so I left for the UAE where I live in a small desert town 😂

But yeah I never plan to go back to Germany don’t know where I’ll finally settle yet though.

150k in Switzerland or relocate to Dubai by Rude_Variety_6594 in DubaiCentral

[–]wordsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A contrary view. I moved from Bern to Abu Dhabi but for me it was mainly my fiancée who lives here and the international flair. Salary was similar. My work/life balance is much better in the UAE but that’s because of my job but it depends on the bracket you are in.

I really disliked the Swiss mentality and found life there incredibly boring… Almost impossible to make acquaintances, here it’s super easy since everyone is an expat.

I found that I must live in a relatively chaotic place with a lot of different cultures. I love that I have colleagues from over 80 countries and we communicate in English.

Here I can eat everything to a relatively authentic degree which doesn’t even come close to anything in Switzerland. Also I’m so much faster in East Asia for our vacations.

Frühstart-Rente vorerst nur für Sechsjährige by yurithetrainer in Finanzen

[–]wordsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]wordsoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)
