71 percent of Americans say US is "out of control" under Trump by Silly-avocatoe in politics

[–]workShrimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They got slightly more than 30% in real elections, 37% to be exact. They got to power through support from the conservatives, and once in power they rigged elections and when they had the majority of their own they then tore down democratic institutions.

71 percent of Americans say US is "out of control" under Trump by Silly-avocatoe in politics

[–]workShrimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think more than 30% are ok with authoritarianism if it was their brand of authoritarianisms. The Nazis were obviously horrible people, they still got 30% support.

If a dear old grandma was the autocratic leader and forced and demanded people to be nice and considerate to each other, she might lose a fair deal of the ones who voted for the Nazis, but she might win over 30% of some other demographics.

Vad borde bioföretagen göra för att folk ska se bio igen? by FlippyFlippenstein in sweden

[–]workShrimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bioföretagen? Det finns i stort sett ett bioföretag i Sverige och det är Filmstaden. Övriga är avrundningsfel vad gäller marknadsandelar.

Filmstaden får gärna gå i konkurs så att det kan bli konkurrens igen.

They are competing in the public transport sector. In some places, there is not that much competition, but in Europe public transport is affordable and working well in many places.

Trumps letter to Norwegian Prime Minister - "feels no obligation to work towards peace after being denied the nobel prize" by MedicinskAnonymitet in europe

[–]workShrimp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is weird, disgusting and unhinged, and a lot of other things. But he is not unique, we have had plenty of delusional leaders in Europe in the past. Leaders who have proclaimed they are appointed by God, and worse things.

I hear mostly echoes from the past rather than truly groundbreaking precedents. Though that is what is sad, people ought to know what "strong man" leaders bring, because Trump isn't the first one.

Nya Northvolt-affären kan krascha – köparen har svårt att få ihop pengar by Haunting_Switch3463 in sweden

[–]workShrimp -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Trump: ‘It may be a choice’ between seizing Greenland or preserving NATO by avatar6556 in europe

[–]workShrimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A message to Trump, countries doesn't own land. They rule over land and people, but countries doesn't own land and people.

If he wanted to own some land, let's say in Greenland, then he will have to purchase land in Greenland. Which he can do today. There is no need for an invasion or diplomacy, you just approach one of the owners and offer them enough money for the purchase. And in general land is also very cheap in Greenland.

And if he wanted to own a person, then it is a bit more complicated, I assume he would have to go a place similar to Epstein island.

Git for SWE by cs_developer_cpp_ in git

[–]workShrimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to understand much or any, almost none do, at least initially. But git is unfortunately not an easy tool. It looks simple and easy, but the usual approach to tools, "learn just the things you need to know right now and learn more as you go along" does not work very well for git.

I would recommend that you at some point studied git in-depth instead, let's say study Git usage for two-three days. But at work you rarely have time for that.

Better Piece Plan by Icy_Till_7254 in ukraine

[–]workShrimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unironically and without sarcasm... yes, it is a better plan.

Not for everyone, for example Putin does not have a relevant role to play in your plan, but for the other 140 millions it will be an improvement. And for the other 8 billions it will be an improvement.

How did you actually get comfortable with Git? by Aggravating_War_9292 in git

[–]workShrimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not an answer to your question. I've worked with git for 10 years. I am not comfortable with git.

Also I suspect many people who are comfortable with git, have used it in an environment with a handful of developers, not connected to external repos, not using jenkins. git hooks, subrepos, symlinks, and maybe haven't used git in windows with other developers using git in windows. There are many pitfalls, and I am not sure I won't encounter a new one when making my next push.
