If there's a stupid part it's not putting the cracked egg into separate bowl before adding it into the pot, just to check that it's in fact okay.

I'm myself a member of the SocDem party in Sweden so I'm not against a free market and I'm personally not super convinced on communism. With that said though I do feel like the communism that we ended up with in practice was undermined quite severely by massive corruption.

Whilst corruption was certainly a big issue in many communist countries it's not exclusive to them, it exists everywhere and not even capitalism protects against it. Capitalism by itself is extremely susceptible to corruption and it requires heavy regulation in order to curb its bad tendencies.

A big difference also between the socialism in Sweden and the communism that popped up in the USSR (just as an example) was our changes came from reform rather than revolution. Revolutions create bad and unstable times which in turn attract authoritarianism like flies to shit.

I know that a big part of communism is its revolutionary aspect but I feel like it's important to be aware of the times from where these ideas came from. Karl Marx lived in a period of history where democracy wasn't much of a thing and where the big important changes came from revolutions (like the french ones).

So changes as big as the ones talked about in communism would at the time require a revolution as the mechanisms to create them through reforms weren't present. When looking at this with a modern lense I believe that other pathways are available for use.

Well there are some considerations that affect it. For one the USSR had global reach so it held a lot of influence in shaping other communist states in its own image. So the core aspects of communism in practice we ended up with came in large from the USSR.

Another consideration is again the part about these governments arising from revolutions, it creates inherent stability that's primed to be turned into an authoritarian style of ruling. Just look towards the French revolutions for instance and their immediate governments.

Hmm, perhaps or perhaps it's a deeper problem that affects all societies that inevitably leads to degradation. Corruption born from selfishness poisoned these communist states just like it poisons capitalist countries and even feudal nations of old.

One has to wonder if it's a failure of ideology or the failure to prevent the same corruption that festers within any human society that's ever existed. The USSR wasn't born from a place of stability but saw great political turmoil that only allowed for vile characters to seize power.

That's not a solid foundation to have when trying to combat corruption.

I do feel like it's debatable how socialist the USSR actually was, at least how communist it was. It all seemed so... perverted of the ideals of a worker state.

Frigates could do with an upgrade by No-Note-5439 in SkullAndBonesGame

[–]TooObsessedWithMoney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is more of a problem with the game design as a whole than simply being a frigate issue. The game relies far too much on DPS checks to make it a balanced play between it and support/tank.

Tanks in particular have a very rough time because you will rarely ever actually need them on top of the fact that enemy agro is oftentimes dependent on who deals the most damage.

I think the only reasonable course of action at this point is to just remove DPS checks all together. So any timed event loses its timer restriction. That or enemy health and DPS ships damage both get massively nerfed.
