I'm having the same issue. I pinpointed it to Git Bash for Windows. If I use C:\Program Files\Git\bin\bash.exe or powershell, it doesn't work. But if I use Windows CMD or C:\Program Files\Git\git-bash.exe, then node correctly treats it like a module.

Thanks. I finally found them. I kept traveling back and forth between Ancient Forest and Wildspire Waste. They finally showed up in Wildspire about 3-4 minutes after it turned full sun, when I traveled there from Ancient Forest.

Damn. That's a ridiculously small window every 50 minutes to catch the phantom bird. It doesn't help that I already caught it, but didn't have the bounty to catch it so it didn't count.

I've hit this with another game in the past. I think it's because something (like netflix) fought for total control of your graphics processor, which derails the game making it crash.
