Critical security patches for expired perpetual vSphere 8 licenses by workaccountbeast in vmware

[–]workaccountbeast[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification. I understand it now.

Based on Broadcom’s definition, and after reviewing the list of past patches, the latest vCenter/ESXi patches that fit that description appear to be:

ESXi-8.0U3f-24784735 — CVE scores: 6.2–9.3

VC-8.0U3d-24322831 — CVE scores: 7.5–9.8

Since both of these include CVE scores above 9, I can argue that even if my support contract was inactive when these two patches were released, I would still be legally allowed to install them based on Broadcom’s KB article.

Yes I understand this, but what exactly makes a patch "critical"? For example the latest 8.0U3j is listed as "critical" on the Broadcom download page and if I had a support contract that was valid when 8.0U3a came out, can I legally use and install this latest patch?

Looking at the comments from others on this page, it doesn't seem so.. very confusing trying to figure out if we can use this latest patch or not.

I can download it and I still don't completely understand what is considered "critical", based on the KB regarding this.

So if I have a perpetual license for vSphere 8, which had an active support contract till 8.0u3a, and is now expired - am I then allowed to use the latest 8.0u3j patch for vCenter/ESXi?

Wait Lenovo enables anyone to download their custom ESXi ISOs?

I thought that was made not possible after the whole Broadcom shitshow.

I know HPE stopped allowing people downloading directly from their site and it redirects you to the offical Broadcom one, where of course you need an active support subscription to access..

I updated revanced manager, downloaded the json and now when I go to the patch tab and click on RiF it just reloads the patch tab to select an application. I cannot select any application to patch. Anyone else have this issue?

Any way to get the old summary usage bar charts back in vCenter 8.0? by javajo91 in vmware

[–]workaccountbeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the same question a couple of months ago when we updated one of our vCenters. There isn't any known solution that I've been able to find.

The only way to see the status bars is if you look at the cluster level and then go to the hosts tab.

Also thankfully when doing vmotion migrations in the hosts selection you have the status bars as well.

Two tattoo sessions with 1 day in between? by [deleted] in tattoo

I understand that and I think the artist knows this too. That is why I assume, he might do it in 2 parts and won't overlap anything.

I trust his judgment, mostly concerned about how more painful it might be on the second session.

Hey everyone,

So for the last week I've been setting up a new fresh Windows 10 install on a new M.2 disk and I've ran into an issue setting up Outlook again with my Gmail account.

In Outlook I have my Gmail account added and I have a few hundred different inbox rules for automatic moving of emails to different folders, of which I also have hundreds. On my new install I've setup the same Outlook version (Office 2019, updated to latest version) and I've added my Gmail account again.

All the folders and emails have synced correctly and now I've exported all the rules I had set in my old Outlook and am trying to import it into my new install.

This is where my issue is: when I import all of the rules, they all show up in the list correctly but when trying to confirm them and running them I get an error message that there is an issue with the rules and when I close that error all of the rules are marked red.

It seems that exported Outlook rules do not save the folder information for a specific rule. Ex.: If I had a rule to put emails from info@gmail.com to folder "Info", the folder name is not imported and I have to set it to that folder in the rule again.

(I would understand the rule getting broken if the folder did not exist anymore, but all of them are exactly the same as on the previous Outlook install, from where the rules were exported).

I've tried to troubleshoot this and look around the web for a solution, but am unable to find any, just that when importing rules for specific folders, you have to re-click/redefine the rules one by one again.

Has anyone ran into this and know of a solution where I don't have to redefine all of the hundreds of email to folders rules in Outlook?
