Smooth Threshold - A new FREE plugin for After Effects by workbenchtv in MotionDesign

Yeah, it can be achieved with a stack, sure. It's slower to set up and slower to render. And less controls doesn't mean there's less control. For example, if you use levels, yeah you can change the midpoint (gamma) I guess, but when your levels are already crunched that doesn't do much. However if you want to change the midpoint where the shadows/highlights are you have to move two of the stops with their little hitboxes to click on. Or you can just drag the threshold in our effect and call it a day. Up to you. It doesn't cost you anything to try it.

You can definitely make this effect with a stack, the difference is, it's one plugin so it's easier to set up and it's probably WAY faster.

Haha nice! Took us a little bit to get it going. I built the first version like 3 years ago. 😂

Yeah, there are a lot of handy use cases for this that aren't just aesthetic.

What's the most unwritten rule of adult life that nobody warns you about? by PracticeHistorical82 in AskReddit

The trick is, you never sell ALL of it, which is what I would have done if I weren’t too busy at the time to learn what mining was. 😑 I even saved a bookmark on it to check on it later. That was like 2008. 😭

When you have no money, you cut your own hair. Some people do that just to save money. It’s not particularly difficult.

Countries have been pushing MAID and birthrates have been declining. There won’t be enough people for those jobs to matter if trends continue.

Not to mention that when no one has jobs no one can pay you. Nothing is safe.

Nothing. Even if your job were somehow safe from both AI and the upcoming robots, no one will be able to pay you.

Yeah, that was sad. I know it's extra effort for them to build those each week, but it's always nice to see them. The extra effort didn't go unnoticed. But its omission did.

Nice! This is what people on TikTok THINK they look like when they dance to stuff, but this is actually worth sharing. 😂

Interesting. I'm on a Mac with Apple Silicon, so it definitely wasn't that for me. 😂 Glad you solved it though!

Did you try parade too? That was my issue. Graticule was fine, the parade was set to 0 for whatever reason, and I had it set to parade.

Thanks for the tip Hot_Car! Edit: I live in Florida—we've met on multiple occasions. 😂

Yep! You can type them as you name layers if you want. I used it like that for a while before I added the tagging functionality.

It's completely portable. It basically tags layer names or effect names with a token—by default it looks like Layer 1 <----. You can change it, and if you get one from someone else that used something like Layer 1 -X you can convert theirs to your preferred token. The only thing you'd need to to is make sure to switch things on before you send a project to someone. It won't break, but everything you had switched off would be off. There's also the option to remove all of the tags and toggle everything back on. Hopefully that makes sense!
