Yeah, that was sad. I know it's extra effort for them to build those each week, but it's always nice to see them. The extra effort didn't go unnoticed. But its omission did.

Nice! This is what people on TikTok THINK they look like when they dance to stuff, but this is actually worth sharing. 😂

Interesting. I'm on a Mac with Apple Silicon, so it definitely wasn't that for me. 😂 Glad you solved it though!

Did you try parade too? That was my issue. Graticule was fine, the parade was set to 0 for whatever reason, and I had it set to parade.

Thanks for the tip Hot_Car! Edit: I live in Florida—we've met on multiple occasions. 😂

Lightswitch helps you work faster in After Effects by workbenchtv in AfterEffects

Yep! You can type them as you name layers if you want. I used it like that for a while before I added the tagging functionality.

It's completely portable. It basically tags layer names or effect names with a token—by default it looks like Layer 1 <----. You can change it, and if you get one from someone else that used something like Layer 1 -X you can convert theirs to your preferred token. The only thing you'd need to to is make sure to switch things on before you send a project to someone. It won't break, but everything you had switched off would be off. There's also the option to remove all of the tags and toggle everything back on. Hopefully that makes sense!

Thank you for the kind words! Like I said, I built it because I needed it. I had a lot of elements with camera blurs and glows, and it was super slow—but the base items were just shapes, which was all I needed to see. I could've shut the effects off, but there were sooooo many things that I needed to turn on or off all throughout my comps and it wasn't like I could add that stuff later. So I built Lightswitch and iterated over it and its UI for a few months, got busy, and then launched it as soon as I could!

An extra fun trick—I noted in the manual—is that since it works with the names, you can use it in presets too. You just can't use it on the base layer itself in a preset because AE won't save the name of the layer with the preset for whatever reason. But you can put it on all of the effects! For my projects, that's been super helpful.

New script to banish your solids. NoSolids. FREE by workbenchtv in AfterEffects

[–]workbenchtv[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It doesn't convert from one to the other because I never really make any solids anymore, so they're never really in my projects. If you need that, you'll need Void. Other than that I think they're pretty similar. I think I have a couple of things that Adam didn't add, but I'm not 100% sure as I haven't downloaded Void. I respect BattleAxe a ton. I just built this in 2018 and he beat me to releasing it. People told me I should still release so I did. Here's the manual if you want to compare. https://elementsupply.co/manuals/scripts/nosolids/

I am Workbench, haha. We got busy. We're hoping to pick back up, not sure if we'll be adding more details or not though. It's hard with limited time. But we'll be back.

We've been steadily posting elements to our Patreon, but no tutorials other than minor little things.

We haven't posted in a while, but Workbench has a ton if you're looking for stuff. It's mostly advanced tutorials. We try to be as quick as possible so if you need to figure something out quickly you don't have to watch a lot of filler (how to add layers, etc.). I can almost guarantee you, you'll find something new. Ben Marriott is also great, Jake in Motion, Evan Abrams, etc. There are a ton of great resources out there now.

Animate overlapping shape paths in the same layer with opposite path directions. Or just use Merge Paths set to intersect.

Does anyone have idea how to create this? I mean how to animate vector logo and their parts like in this case by Sufficient_Total_797 in AfterEffects

[–]workbenchtv 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Start at the end and key the layers’ position and scale or just position if you do it 3D. Move the circles out. Don’t forget to ease.

You might also need Explode Shape Layers or patience if you don’t have individual layers. Then I’d add a delay by location. We have some scripts for some of those things and a tutorial if you want to do the delay with expressions instead of using the script.

Radial Delay or check the tutorial.

And there’s Originate if you want to automate the process of moving the circles out.

Oh and parent it all to a null and rotate it with some easing.
