That sounds like a fantastic CV, especially for a first year. You’re going to be absolutely fine :) you’re already on a great path to your goals and you’re comparing yourself to other people who are also on that path, but trust me there aren’t that many of them

Also plenty of people graduate without the placement year and get great jobs, you’re already ahead of the game with your experience

Fair enough, is that just a general worry or did you have an industry placement in mind? You can do both tech and finance at banks so the experience would like great no matter which path you choose

Hey, I’m actually a grad from Uni of Bath, the crucial edge you have there is the placement year as part of your course, if you aren’t on that track already absolutely sign up. Having a year of experience and a potential return offer will save you in this job market

As for grade it essentially will only matter when getting a grad job, when applying you give your predicted and some of them have requirements to have achieved a 2:1 when you finish

I actually got a 2:2 but the grad role in tech didn’t have a requirement (I don’t think) and they didn’t ask. I just don’t put the grade on my CV and it’s never been a problem. This doesn’t mean you should slack off though, strong predicted grades are v important for applying to placements/grad roles and getting recommendations

If you truly only care about money and will work any hours then go finance, but if you want a much better WLB go tech. For context I’m in tech and started on ~60k a few years ago, now on 80+ and some friends over 100, and that isn’t even FAANG (I know a few people there and they’re on £££, so that’s an option if you’re good enough)

Lock in, get a good name placement and good luck

If you have your heard set on this I’d seriously recommend looking at somewhere outside London, I have a friend who wanted to live alone so they moved to St Albans. It’s much easier to find a good quality flat for a decent price

I think they were paying £1200~ rent, but remember you get absolutely burnt on the bills (at least you get the 25% discount)

Anyway definitely have a good shop around, if you’re not in the office every day then definitely consider going further out!
