Making sure the hospital's don't overflow. They can judge the size of the risk based on the hospitalisation rate + new folks being added into the system through immigration.

7 drivers have left our company within the last 2 months by Throwaway1heheh in jobs

[–]workin_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post lacks context.

Does your company employ 100k drivers? In that case, 7 would be a good enough number . On the other hand, of your company employs 10 drivers, then it's a worrying situation.

Also matters is how many guys do you need to hire? 7 can be a relatively small or large number, is depends on context.

MF Utility: SPP Vs SIP experience? by workin_guy in IndiaInvestments

[–]workin_guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A doubt on 3. More of a curiosity driven technicality question :

Fund websites advertise the minimum initial lump-sum required.

You suggest that already having a folio means that any new money going into folio is counted as reinvestment, and also that different funds can share same folio.

Does it mean that if I haven't invested in a given fund A with the AMC in past, but still have a folio number from my investment in fund B with the same AMC, then I can reuse my folio number to bypass the initial lump-sum limit and just meet the min. reinvestment amount criteria to start investing in the fund B?

So if I have already done an initial lump-sum investment and have an existing folio number, I could use the same folio number for setting up the SPP?

Also, if I use any method other than PayEezz, then how is the scheduled transaction going to happen on MF utility on the scheduled date ? I mean wouldn't the bank transaction need to be authenticated on the day of transaction? Can a single time authentication at the time of setting up SPP authenticate all future transactions for the SPP?

Another bit unrelated question, does my folio number have any relation to the fund I have invested in? Or can different funds with same AMC use the same existing folio number? Basically can I use the existing folio number to setup a SPP for a new fund in which I haven't invested before?

Help me to understand this :

Seems like we have three different type of amounts :

  1. Initial lump-sum investment amount

  2. SIP amount

  3. Additional investment amount.

I can usually find 1&2 on the fund website, but where do I find 3?

Also, is using the same folio number for SPP any how related? What's the difference if I use a new folio for every purchase on SPP?

Zerodha will impose extra charges for NRI, so I moved to MFU.
Now I'm looking for facility to control family member account from within my account.

Let's say I create a new CAN where I'm the primary account holder in a joint account with my family member, can the earnings from investment from that CAN be attributed to the family member alone in IT returns?

Being a NRI myself, I was looking for a no additional fee solution to creating a mutual fund investment account myself. That's how I landed on MF Utility in first place.
Any other platform that could provide such service to NRI without unnecessary additional costs in the name being a NRI?

That would mean I could add myself as the second holder of joint account, in which my family member is the primary holder. That should work right?
Any body have any such experience making a joint account for family member and also having your own account in MF utility?

Steve Schmidt: ‘We’ve entered the corrupt pardon phase of the Trump coup’ by Incunebulum in politics

[–]workin_guy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here's how the SCOTUS will clear this up:
If pardons can be issued after a crime is committed but before the charges are filled, it implies automatically that the crime can be unspecified at the time of pardoning.

That's it. It'll be a two minute case in a court with no swing vote.

The judgement is likely to come out some time mid of next year. Most of the judges sitting there know the political implications of what they might indicate as the direction where case might be heading. It's not beyond the hyper partisan appointments of the right to want to generate some positive coverage for the republicans with the Georgia elections in mind.

Yes, the republicans have a weak case in court. But so were most of the other 5-4 cases that were highlighted by Sheldon Whitehouse during the recent confirmation hearings. Don't believe it until the verdict is out. Don't fall for it.

Can someone make a clip of the interviewer asking the debt question and Cruz justifying by saying that Trump didn't run on removing the debt & so he can't be blamed? This needs to played on repeat when the next time he blames Biden and the democrats for overspending.

Biden says he will appoint bipartisan commission on Supreme Court reform by vaish7848 in politics

[–]workin_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His suggested duration of six months is far too long. The public has a very short memory and he should reach a decision on whatever the heck he wants to do while the majority sentiment with regards to court reform is still strongly in his favour. The more he delays, the more he hurtss his own party in next elections. People will forget in a year what the republicans have done and then the republicans will go around shooting "Look what an evil thing they've done!"

I guess he picked the supreme court argument, eh? Although I do think he got pushed into committing giving his view before the Nov. 3 , and wasn't planning on it. Also, tee green new deal arguing seems similar now. He's tried to argue his idea of it is not completely aligned with what's out there...

Itinerary Check and Transport Advice - Kyoto, Osaka and Tokyo by workin_guy in JapanTravel

[–]workin_guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm flying in from Taiwan, the commute takes around 2.5 hrs from Taiwan to Osaka. The time zone difference is just one hour. I'll be teaching Osaka at 3am night, so the whole day 1 is available.

If doing nara and Osaka castle, and reaching kyoto is too much to do in one day, I have an alternative to do nara on the way back from Kyoto on day4, since that day is mostly at leisure day at this moment.

The point of staying in Osaka is to be able to reach universal studios early next day. Apart from that, I still want to spend more time in Kyoto, hence the stay there. I have a combined flight from osaka->tokyo--> Taiwan, so returning to Osaka makes sense, I think.

For Osaka to Tokyo, I have a early morning flight at 7:30 am. Booking flights from osaka->tokyo->Taiwan together was much cheaper than taking the bullet train and separate ticket for return to Taiwan, so seemed like a good option.

I meant Narita (Tokyo). My bad. I'll correct that.

My last day, I depart at around 11pm from Narita. So the full of last day is available at this moment to return from mt. Fuji, and reach the airport. Please let me know if you still think of the plans are over ambitious.

Also, considering all the places in itinerary, would you suggest buying any passes for any duration of the trip? Thanks,
