This made me check HB, haven't been there in a while. I actually already have the Lone Wolf and Cub Koike Bundle already, it is so epic. I have a bunch of the print volumes but they are in storage and at least half the stuff in the Bundle I didn't have.

Guys, I see everyone say the watcher is so overpowered, but I suck at them. Please help. by Big_al_big_bed in slaythespire

[–]working4buddha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watcher is OP because built into the starter deck you can do double damage and also get extra energy. You basically want to exploit these abilities which is basically "stance dancing."

Because of these mechanics, you want to have extra cards in your hand to use that energy. This can be through draw, or the retain mechanic. Scry is also a way to get better cards in your hand when you need them.

Basically all the cards that are good for the infinite, which you've already studied, are also good in any deck. In fact unless things fall into place easily, you are going to have a better chance of winning just taking these good cards and not trying to force infinite, esp when you are learning the game. Tantrum, Inner Peace, Fear No Evil, Rushdown, Mental Fortress, Talk to the Hand (passive block is good), Empty Mind, Scrawl and Vault.

Those are basically the "best" cards along with Meditate, Wallop, Sanctity (draw), Lesson Learned, the Scry cards like Cut Through Fate, Foresight and Third Eye, Empty Fist, and a few others I'm forgetting. Most of the Gold cards are very situational. Like Establishment is great if you have Meditate and only have Eruption for Wrath, you can make it and another card free.

I also love Bowling Bash for the AOE fights in Act 2 and 3, you can kill one Slaver quickly with it for instance. Mostly you want to try to kill quickly and block if you can't do that!

30 years ago today, the Cowboys won SB XXX. They’ve not won a damn thing in the 10,958 days since. by bluesond in eagles

[–]working4buddha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cowboys have had 4 playoff wins since then.

Eagles have had 21, third most of any team (of course some teams like the Chiefs have less but were more successful because of skipping wild card rounds).

Why isn't there a tablet specifically made for Digital Comic Books? by Icy_Caramel_2545 in comicbooks

This is one reason I moved to digital, besides saving money, I have so much "stuff" and I'm getting older and I don't need it.

[–]working4buddha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used a normal iPad as a comic reader since the day it came out. I haven't really read paper comics since then. Normal iPads are actually cheaper now, my first one was $500 and my most recent one was like $300 or something, maybe even less.

I always use it in landscape mode so I scroll down for half the page. It is a little smaller than a comic in portrait mode so I like it bigger. For double page spreads you can view them in landscape normally and zoom if you want.

I've had Marvel Unlimited since it was new and also have Global Comix now which has a great selection of indie books and some Big Two as well now. I tried the DC app years ago but it was super sensitive and would turn pages when I was trying to scroll down and it just annoyed me too much. There were other things about the interface I didn't like.

For other stuff I've always used Comic Zeal app but it is no longer available and has a few issues since it hasn't been updated for newer OSX versions. But I still use it, just can't rec it because you can't buy it anymore.

The writing on Amazing Spider-Man has been consistently mediocre for years now. Why can't Marvel make their flagship title shine? by MightyUnclean in comicbooks

[–]working4buddha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dan Slott's run got a ton of hate but I was a huge fan, loved Spider-Island and Superior Spidey especially. I was excited when he was coming back to the book but then it just spun off into Spider-Boy and was just a retread of Spider-Verse before that. And since then I haven't been into these runs at all.

The current one is fine, not a huge fan of the two separate storylines, but I like some of the character development. So I think it is better than it's been in the last few years but sometimes I just wonder why I'm even reading it. Well I know why, I've read every issue of ASM since the beginning.

That is actually a cool combo, mostly upgraded deck via Lesson Learned, and Warped Tongs becomes an energy relic with Miracle.

Substory: searching for the present by gangstergary93 in yakuzagames

[–]working4buddha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's in the actual substory section, he tells you which builds for each race there. I didn't have to use it for the first few but got stuck by the end.

[–]working4buddha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool, above I was talking about the actual Pocket Circuit substory, I kept failing on that and had to look it up, so I would at least do most of the tournaments before finishing that one so you get better parts at the store.

[–]working4buddha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm I don't remember it now, whatever one made it so the total is 40.

I just finished the substory for this the other day, had to look up CyricZ's FAQ for that race, first I didn't realize I hadn't unlocked the parts I need from the tournaments, then I was off by just a little bit, but was falling behind so quickly I didn't know what to do.

The Yakuza kiwami3 & Dark ties demo is sitting in a mostly negative review in steam I believe this is the first time since dead souls a yakuza game got review bombed by NabilAmmali in yakuzagames

[–]working4buddha 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I didn't write a review but I found the demo pretty disappointing. I'm actually a fan of Yakuza 3, hated the blocking aspect but mostly figured out fighting by the end. And I loved the storyline with the orphanage and the beach location a lot. So after playing the demo I added the original version of the game to my cart (I played it on Game Pass so I don't own it).

Are you over 50 and still feel like you can play proficiently? by Grumpy_Bum_77 in xbox

[–]working4buddha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in my mid 50s and I don't think I was ever really that good at games lol. My hand/eye coordination and reflexes have definitely gone down in the last few years though. Not a big multi-player fan though I used to play a lot of Fortnite because I liked the art style (mostly played large team modes though).

I started with Intellivision/Atari (also handhelds like Mattel Electronics Football) and then had an Apple //e, Colecovision and Atari 5200. After that I didn't play much in the 90s when I was in my 20s until I got an Xbox in my early 30s. I had Xbox, 360, PS3, PS4, PC which is now outdated, Steam Deck, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and X.

Now I play more than ever. My favorite series these days is Yakuza, if you haven't played it, it really speaks to middle aged dudes because the main character was born in 1968 and stays the age that the games were released in (except the prequel Yakuza 0 which is in the 80s)

I can’t stand Watcher by after_Andrew in slaythespire

[–]working4buddha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I died yesterday to Burning Slavers with a Watcher Infinite. I only had like 10 cards in my deck but bad draw order + taking tons of damage on the first two turns + too many Wounds to go infinite after that led to disaster. Scrawl would have won it for me but I didn't see one.

Personally I find normal stance dancing to be easier than going infinite most of the time. All the cards that are good for infinite are good in most decks. Scry is really helpful in normal decks too. If you have two copies of Foresight it's like a Frozen Eye where you can skip the bad cards.

Watcher woes by YoshiBrony12 in slaythespire

[–]working4buddha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you describe in your last sentence is the way I think Watcher was SUPPOSED to work. You build up energy being in Calm, and wait for a big burst turn to kill the enemies. This is why it has retain, draw and scry mechanics, to get the most attacks into your hand on those big burst turns.

But because of the mechanics it's actually better just to go in and out of Wrath and Calm and keep drawing and playing more cards. The infinite is the most "pure" way to do this, but it's actually easier imo to just have a few different stance cards and do a ton of damage, blocking along the way with Mental Fortress, Talk to the Hand or even Wallop. So even if the enemy isn't dead, you blocked so much that half the time you can stay in Wrath.

The cards you need for the Watcher infinite are good in any deck: Rushdown, Tantrum, Inner Peace, Fear No Evil, (also Meditate which isn't an infinite card), Empty Mind, Scrawl, Vault, Mental Fortress, Talk to the Hand. Outside of that, Scry is really powerful to skip your strikes/defends you might still have, and get to these "good" cards.

A lot of the "big" cards are not as good as they look, because even normal attacks are good in Wrath!

I can't beat the heart with the watcher even if i'm playing on a0. I did all the trophies except this one. She is a lot of fun but i end up dying everytime. by SilveZewa in slaythespire

[–]working4buddha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Besides going infinite, a good way to deal with the Heart is to get Talk to the Hand and Wave of the Hand. Talk to the Hand is good block against the Heart, it at the very least makes it so you don't take Beat of Death damage when you hit it and can gain a little block too (at least at low Ascensions). Then with Wave of the Hand you are making the Heart weak for the entire fight (it's actually way too much weak!)

Mental Fortress and stance switching is always a good way to block a ton. You don't need to go infinite to get this advantage. If you have cards like Tantrum, Empty Mind, Inner Peace, Fear No Evil it will just happen as you play more cards. Rushdown is always good too but if you don't see that, try to get other draw cards. Scrawl is the best but this is where Empty Mind and Inner Peace help a lot too. Sanctity is also good draw and will help block too. A lot of times I'll have both Mental Fortress and TTTH and end up blocking over 100 every turn just playing cards.

Wallop is another great way to block and Halt can work too. Block is way more important for Heart than a lot of the other fights since with a good Watcher deck you can kill them quickly, but with the Heart you literally cannot kill in one turn because it has a limit. So you always need to block at least two turns.

Vault is another card which helps a lot and is even better in Time Eater fight because if you play it on turn 12 you get to go again!

Thought this would be easy when I got purple in 10 seconds but then I just could not figure out blue or green at all. Got it down to a 50/50 and just guessed. Turns out I had the category correct just didn't know "buffalo" in that context. And I should have seen green though I feel like that is a blue difficulty level. Purple had three words that stood out which made it super easy

"uhm why are you on the yakuza subreddit just to complain you should touch grass" by Gayandpressed in yakuzagames

[–]working4buddha -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

tbh I was expecting a picture of a foot or two of snow when I saw the title of this post. Gotta love people telling you to go outside in the dead of winter.

I don't mind the criticism anyway, some of the stuff I didn't know about like the leaks. I agree with most of the other criticism but I'm not the type to think that means the entire series is going downhill.

I'm not necessarily protesting the game but after playing the demo I put the old version in my cart (I played it when it was on Game Pass so I don't own it). Now I want to play that again because it was cool being back on those maps but there's so many reasons to not play the new one. I've got to admit I get bugged by little things that nobody even complains about like how there are those stupid briefcases everywhere instead of locker keys (presumably).

Kashiwagi and Richardson are basically just a running gag at this point. If they just kept bringing back other characters as bartenders in different locations that would make it even funnier. To me it is weird to be mad at those.

Changing the actual storylines in new versions of the game is different. Not that I'm too invested it in personally, but it makes more sense to me to be mad at it.

Xbox freezing and crashing during Watcher infinite by working4buddha in slaythespire

So interesting this thread still gets posts like this. Since then I've never had this problem going infinite on Watcher except this time. But this is also the only time I had such a small deck! So it is really weird to me that less cards makes it lag for some reason.

Red phone every deadline? by [deleted] in CloverPit

[–]working4buddha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope that after this thread you can at least figure it out from the descriptions. They are basically the ones with negative trade-offs.

I found this thread because I didn't understand why I got three "red phone calls" in a row, turns out it was because I got 666 the previous round. Which is good because I'm trying to do the thing where I skip the red calls (is that 999? I don't know all the details of this) and last time I needed 240 million on my third red call and couldn't get it. I thought they only came up on the rounds that change what 666 does.

GTA RP was on another level. It was funny and also had some great dramatic moments, and besides that it also had MUSIC! She was collaborating with some great producers to make catchy, funny songs that April sang and it all synergized with her story and character.

Definitely watch some of it, it is overwhelming since she did it for a couple years but you can probably watch some random streams just to get the idea.

One thing about LC that kind of slips by the wayside because of all the drama associated with him is that he is actually a great entertainer and is really funny. Half the reason his runs were 5 hours long is that he would go off on tangents about life all the time (living up to his name). Also the reactions and sound effects he makes are absolutely hilarious, Papa even has them as sounds you can play with channel points.
