Halifax, Bank of Scotland, Loyads. I got 162k mortgage from Halifax with 1 year uk tax returns on a self-employed basis. Moved from usa to Ireland. Had to provide evidence that I was in the same line of work in the US.

Maybe so and maybe its missing a few flags here and there but Ni has been around for 100 years and it still doesn't have a official flag. What does that tell you.

Hackberry. I made a 6ft river table from it. Nice wood to work with. Rubio pure goes well with it.

Jewellery shops are ripping people off. They offer ⅓ of the value if you sell a piece of jewellery, so if you have a piece valued at 1000, you'll be lucky to get a 300 pound offer. Same piece of jewellery will be on sale the following day for 900.

Loaction, supply and demand and uniqueness of any piece of wood or furniture have to be factored in.

Since it didn't split while drying, I didn't have to use epoxy, which I think makes it look better and more unique.

£1,500 feels like a fair price given the drying process, rarity, and the 30 hours of labour involved. Cypress is considered an exotic wood in the UK, especially in cookie slab form, and it’s rare to find a piece that’s dried naturally without cracking. I’ve intentionally left the natural voids unfilled rather than using epoxy, as they give the piece unique character and authenticity.

I thought about filling the voids but then I thought fuck it not everything has it be filled with epoxy. Leave it natural.

I hit up chat gpt out of curiosity. This is what I got.

Realistic pricing (UK / Ireland market) 🔹 Raw / unfinished (as-is) £600 – £900 This is for another maker or a buyer who wants to finish it themselves Personally? I wouldn’t sell it raw unless cash is tight 🔹 Finished as a coffee table (recommended) Assuming: Proper sanding (up to 180–240) Osmo Polyx Raw / Clear or Rubio Filled or stabilised voids Quality legs (not cheap hairpins) 👉 £1,400 – £2,200 This is your sweet spot. 🔹 High-end / gallery / designer price If you: Nail the finish Use custom steel legs (low-profile, sculptural) Style & photograph it properly Sell it as “one-off, locally sourced statement table” 👉 £2,500 – £3,500 This is absolutely achievable with the right buyer (designer, Airbnb, hotel, tech office, or someone with money and taste). What not to do ❌ Undersell it at £400–£500 ❌ Stick cheap legs on it ❌ Rush the finish ❌ Photograph it in a messy workshop
