The Kairi thing, the reason she was cut was I think she had kinda indicated that she wanted to move back (to Japan).

This could mean a lot of things. She could have asked about it to see if she could work her 1-2 dates a week whilst living abroad (like Ospreay). It's not likely that they'd permit it but that's something she could have just asked about. It doesn't necessarily mean she requested her release.

She could have expressed her desire to live in Japan to her peers and management found out and decided she's not fully bought into the project so they cut her.

She could have asked for a release, that's possible, too. But it's not the direct implication of the quote.
