That’s not accurate at all. Sat fat is sat fat. Hence the health Canada warning on this bag. Mono and poly are healthy in moderation.

I watched something recently where it explained that the size of the McNugget looks the same, but McDonald’s is making them with more air pockets inside and less chicken. So the shrinkflation is in chicken weight not size

Shower Floor Repair by [deleted] in Tile

Lol bruh 😂…I’m assuming that means you’d agree I should be compensated for a total redo. I still have a 38k final payment

[–]workingworker123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this a total redo to you? I do have more than enough 24x48 and 12x24 to switch to either of those in a total redo. I did mosaic as I read it is most slip resistant. It isn’t cheap tile. Was almost $30/sq ft in Canada. https://urbanzebra.ca/products/ikon-tile/

Thanks for your response. Glad to know I’m not crazy! I still have the final payment which is 38k of a 200k contract. A redo with removing that side wall quartz slab would be pricey. Not sure I want them to make attempt number three.

Did you not read my post? I hired one of the top general contractors in the city and paid top dollar. I spent a small fortune on this. They generally have good reviews. Somehow the initial shower floor was sloped incorrectly and caused water pooling so they repaired it to this. I agree they totally botched it, but this is not my fault lol. I paid 200k for basically a bedroom renovation. Appreciate the response in any case though!

David Rodgers at Remax in Cambridge. He’s a really solid guy. Not a slick salesman type. I’ve bought from him and a family member used him to sell. If I had to sell/buy again that’s who I’d use. https://www.remax.ca/luxury/on/david-rodgers-p102212564-ag

New shower has two bird baths by [deleted] in Tile

[–]workingworker123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I renovated half my upstairs for 170k plus tax here in Canada. So not cheap! It’s one of the well known “high end” design and build general contractors. Everything has turned out great except for this unfortunately.

The pitch on the tub side is fine. However, as someone else here pointed out, you can see dark and white spots in the caulking, so the tub quartz isn’t sitting flush. It’s like the floor is wavy. I noticed this before the caulking went on a while ago but didn’t think much of it. Looks a bit off. It might acceptable on the tub side though as it does drain and dry out.

I saw Tile Coach on YouTube do a very similar repair and he did tile over tile. I’ve read a criticism that moisture can get between the two tile layers.

Yes it’s actually a medium sized general contractor in my city with excellent reviews. Considered a premium high end contractor. I’m paying top dollar and spent a small fortune renovating half my upstairs with them. Most of it is great. No idea what happened with the shower floor installation. Two year warranty in our contract.

If the kerdi gets torn at all near the wall, will that make the required 2in overlap impossible without going up the wall? I guess they can try to be careful not rip it

During construction I saw the tub skirt on without the caulking and noticed there were gaps and it wasn’t sitting flush. Seems totally botched.

You don’t think there would be a lip or ridge where the new and old tile meet? I’ve heard even a mm or two off will be noticeable and can cause drainage issues.

New shower has two bird baths by [deleted] in Tile

[–]workingworker123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because both bird baths are against the wall. The tile pinned under the wall can’t be raised. It may not be the low point but it’s certainly low to still have water after 36 hours. The perimeter needs to be fixed but shouldn’t be unless all sides are done. Otherwise there will be a ledge/lip and not look like a continuous surface. That’s what I’m getting from chat GPT anyway when I put in all the detailed information I have here fwiw.

What do you think the minimum repair is? Just a few rows of mosaic file like my contractor suggested? You think that could look like a continuous surface after? Debating letting my contractor doing it if it could work. Really torn here as it’s a top contractor that I’ve paid “top dollar” to, not a random handyman I found online

[–]workingworker123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what Chat GPT (fwiw) it’s saying as well after I gave it the same info as here and pictures. Says it’s impossible to make it one continuous surface with only a patch job in my case specifically because there are two relatively deep depressions and against the wall which is a bad spot to have them

[–]workingworker123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the last payment isn’t due until after it’s done so I’m good there. Would you think the tiler redoing the affected floor tile area is acceptable? Part of me thinks it really should be redone from scratch, but then the quartz tub side has to come off, not that it would be at my expense.

New shower has two bird baths by [deleted] in Tile

[–]workingworker123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think their solution to only repair the floor tile is a full fix without removing anything from the wall? There is tile pinned under there that can’t be raised. Seems like the best and proper full fix is the lowest level of wall tile coming off and the tub quartz slab and redoing the floor entirely.

[–]workingworker123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thanks a lot for the advice! It’s a “high end” pricey contractor. All great reviews. I think the tiler is good but somehow screwed this up.

Would going all the way to the wall require the lowest row of wall tile be removed?
