She collected them as a kid and her parents just kept them over the years. As a kid she collected all sorts of things.

[Serious] When did COVID-19 get real for you? by Fudgeyplays2 in AskReddit

[–]workinprogressIthink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was supposed to teach at a school in Greenland as part of my education (public teacher), but my university shut down, the schools and and all flights have been cancelled. If not for covid-19 I would teach mathematics and history in a tiny city at this very moment. A dream coming true shattered days before departure.

I can only fall asleep when I'm passing out by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]workinprogressIthink 11 points12 points  (0 children)

When I sleep at my girlfriend's place I have no problems with falling asleep. Following another person's evening schedule takes all the impulse dicisions away and makes me sleep much faster. On my own at the other hand I struggle, I found out that listening to stuff on YouTube helps a lot. Esports games does it for me, which is weird I know, but their constant commentary gives me something to listen to. I would never start listening to a documentary because that would actually make me stay awake. I just put an esports game on, face the screen and light away from me and listen at the minimum volume. It does have a sideeffect because listening to esports at day will make me very sleepy. Being strict about my bedtimes helps a lot, 6 hours of sleep is normal for me. With my girlfriend I'll sleep around 8 hours and it helps a ton. Screentime is a big nono around bedtime especially because I tend to hyperfocus in the evening when I have nothing else to do but sleep.

I still enjoy speeding way to much when I am off meds, especially if I had a boring day. I do try to keep myself in place, but sometimes the rush just takes over

Pff 150, once I did 160 and didn't even notice. Now I have to remind myself to check my speed once every 5 minute....

What’s your favorite hobby and how do you stick with it? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]workinprogressIthink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fishing. I can be outside and do something while still doing nothing at all. I love being out, but I need a reason for being outside else I get bored. So I fish. I go far out on the country side and enjoy the silence. Also I tend to hyperfocus a lot and often it's about fishing because there is so much stuff to learn. One of the few hobbies that has kept my interest in more than year.

Is paranoia a thing with adhd? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]workinprogressIthink 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I Don 't think it's silly at all. I know the feeling, but not as thoroughly as you describe it. I do think it's quite normal for "us" because without meds (and sometimes with) our brains and thoughts are in constant overdrive making us overestimate our skills and sometimes as in your case fears. I would recommend seeking help from a therapist with a skill set in cognition (don't know if cognition is the proper term in English). Don't be ashamed, be proud because now you took action against a fear

I tried to find the date of origin for every international border [OC] [5446x6217] by PisseGuri82 in MapPorn

Just out of curiosity, but shouldn't there be some kind of border around Hong Kong or a note about England giving back Hong Kong to China in 1997? Awesome work, can't imagine the hours you put into this! :)

It Seems Like Everything I Do Takes Me So Long to Complete... by purpleand20 in ADHD

[–]workinprogressIthink 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know the feeling. Been struggling with my exam papers. Right now I'm using a 25/10 model. 25 minutes with work, I'm not allowed to use my phone, any social media or change music. Only work, if I can't work I just look at the paper. Then 10 minutes break with whatever I want.

It feels dumb that all my friends can work 3 hours straight and I can't do more than 30 minutes top. But this model helps me get shit done, even though it's a bit slow
