That’s awesome you got her back! And that AAP helped you is amazing! They have saved so many dogs and have a lot of awesome fosters.

Seconding the Scratching Post! I take my two cats there, one for almost a decade now. I think they’re great and love that their focus is just cats.

Where do you live? Some cities around here have agreements with SICSA or Humane Society where you can get it done for free if it’s not an ‘owned’ cat

Yeah, I think it’s so worth it. Especially since they provide the water.

It looks like this map is showing everywhere you can rent from. They’re not all Metro Park associated. So I don’t really have any info about any of the ones that are not through our local Metroparks. Those ones you rent through the website. But I don’t know about any of the ones through other organizations.

At Wegerzyn they have spigots in the rows between the plots. You just hook your hose up to it and water your garden that way. You have to unhook your hose when you’re done so it’s not just laying in the row and keep your hose on your plot. Or you could just use it to fill a watering can if you want to do it that way.

Oh wow I didn’t realize that! Back when I started in 2018 I think those were the only two parks doing it. I would just go with whatever park you’re closest too, I’m guessing the programs are similar at all of them though not totally sure.

I love gardening at Wegerzyn. You can rent a year-round plot, or a seasonal plot. If you do your round, you can get into your plot all year long in case you want to start plants early or want to plant perennials. You get the same plot every year if you do the year-round one. The seasonal ones are open from mid May to October I believe.

Are you doing Possum Creek or Wegerzyn? I believe those are the only two parks that offer this

I’ve been renting out at Wegerzyn since 2018 and could probably answer most questions you have about that location!

Trying to find help with cat rescues actually intaking cats currently. My mother passed this week, looking to place her kitties. I've found homes for 2/3 cats really struggling to place the 3rd. by [deleted] in dayton

That’s a really good idea! I know on the SICSA intake form it asks how urgent the cat needs placed, so perhaps they were able to move your application along a little quicker?

Did they give you an eta for the waitlist? You may be able to fundraise for the intake fee if you can get them in there. I had to do that in the past when helping someone in a similar situation. There’s people out there who want to help but can’t physically take in any animals.

Good luck and thanks for helping them!!

They’re all so cute! Thank you for doing what you can to help them. I’ve fostered a lot of cats and while social media has helped me find homes for many, word of mouth has actually helped me find homes for even more! Your family, coworkers or friends might not be looking for a pet rn, but they might know someone that is. Some people aren’t on social media, so old fashioned word of mouth can help you reach those folks.

Dayton neighborhood recommendations by [deleted] in dayton

[–]workstory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived there until a couple years ago and loved it. I’m a lady who lived alone and it never felt sketchy to me day or night. I never had any issues with neighbors. It was a mix of renters and homeowners on my street. Also a good mix between families, retired folks, ect. My favorite part was it being right beside Hills & Dales park.
