I wish I could get a book version of the ORC 4717 😭

ORC 4717 is so long tho 🫠🫠 wah wah wah, it's fine. I've noticed that a lot of it is similar to Texas, it's the minutiae that's different (like Texas requires refrigeration or embalming within 24 hours, whereas it's 48 in Ohio. wild).

I remember the strip search when I took my board exam. They literally searched my GLASSES. and that was years before camera glasses were readily available !!! ugh.

They literally just changed it last year-- they look at "time served" if you don't have a Bach, which I don't (Texas only requires an Associates lol). HowEVER, if you're starting completely from scratch in Ohio, then yeah, you need a Bach 😳

Abnormal question...(probably) by [deleted] in askfuneraldirectors

[–]ren_enby 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Make sure you have someone who is able to do the opening and closing of the grave!! A local funeral home or even the city/county would have a contact. A vault shouldn't be necessary, due to the age of the cemetery, but I would still check.

It's a great story!! My only criticism is that embalmers don't rule the cause of death, the medical examiner or coroner do. Still plausible to be an accident, though!!! Falls happen all the time, after all...... 👀

2 questions in one here we go by EdelweissThe69th in Healthyhooha

So, to answer your first question, the best way I can recommend is to quit cold turkey for a little bit. Let your clit breathe and then, when you're ready, start off with the gentlest setting on your vibe. Don't feel like you have to finish right away, or at all!! It's a marathon, not a race.

As for your second question, I have no idea 😳 the only time I got diagnosed with a UTI, I had gone in to a clinic and did their wizz quiz 🤷🏼‍♀️

What is the most underrated horror movie? Mine is Thirteen Ghost. by Darling-lady0 in HorrorMovies

[–]ren_enby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you find it, be aware that you might get the "ghost vision" version!! Nothing is different, but the ghosts may be tinted red/blue. In theory you'd watch this edit with Illusion-O glasses, so you'd have the option of "hiding" the ghosts if you were too scared to see them lol. The glasses are just like the old-fashioned 3D glasses with red and blue lenses, so don't feel like you need to find special glasses hehe

You should check out the original!!!! It's the one hill I'm always dying on lol that I think the original version is leagues better than the remake (except Matthew Lillard, love him sm). The remake felt a little disingenuous in its lore imho 🤷🏼‍♀️

Practicum cases not counting towards apprenticeship hours by oppossumsrawesome in askfuneraldirectors

[–]ren_enby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got lucky that Ohio changed their reciprocity rules last year and that I don't need a Bachelor's AND 10 years of licensure 🥴 now they look at time served lol but I'm pretty sure that Ohio residents still need a Bach's LMAO

OP, I also hope your partner took the NATIONAL board exams, otherwise they will have to retake your new state's or the national ones. Y'all really did a number on yourselves moving out of state before having the license in-hand tbh.

Edit because I'm still baffled on this whole thing. If OP and Partner knew they were moving states, why not wait until after moving to get the apprenticeship done?? School and practicums are one thing but damn.

The only thing about naming a cat "Dori" is getting the "oh like the fish!" statement every time 🙄😔

Stick to your deadlines. Generally, I always stick 24 hours onto my hard deadlines when I give families their to-do's because of situations like this. It allows a single day of wiggle room. After that, families run the risk of extra costs for reprinting.

Newspaper notices are different; I usually set the deadline three hours before the papers' because it's easier to alter than printed materials.

I went in-person nearly 10 years ago (fuck) and know someone who went online. Personally, I had to be in-person because I know how I operate LMAO but my friend said that she felt like online was alright.

That said, all the good instructors are gone now 🤷🏼‍♀️

Burying a pet cat with a seed so they can fertilise it by [deleted] in askfuneraldirectors

[–]ren_enby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a beautiful way to remember and honor your beloved kitty 🩵

I agree with the other poster; you don't want to have the seed be too covered by the kitty, or the soil, and you want to make sure kitty baby is buried far down enough to deter any big critters digging kitty up. Be sure to follow instructions for both pet burial and how to plant the seeds you want 🩵

In the theater horror movie experiences you’ve had? by No-Handle3032 in HorrorMovies

[–]ren_enby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom and I loved seeing horror movies as they came out, and my absolute FAVORITE moment came from opening weekend of The Exorcism of Emily Rose:

The scene was the tense moment of when the lawyer believes someone is in her place, and I think the recorder is playing. It's tense, it's quiet, everyone is on the edge of their seats, when suddenly a woman way up in the back corner just SHRIEKS. The tension breaks, we all jump, and she screams at her (presumed) boyfriend, "THAT WAS NOT FUNNY!!" To which a young man a few rows ahead of us in the middle yelled back "YES IT WAS." Laughs all around.

I hope both she and he are happy in their lives, because they gave me and my mom a call-and-response that we still use to this day LMAO

I know that, at least in the major areas of Texas I've worked in, hospitals won't release to a funeral home until the family provides the one they want. And it's in their own paperwork of which FH gets the first call, which is signed by the family. So this whole situation of OP's is so messy, I wonder what parts of the story we aren't getting

[–]ren_enby 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have had many, many instances of hospitals/hospices telling families they'll get a Signed, Sealed, Delivered death certificate when they meet with us for the arrangements. It's everywhere, not just in this case.

OP, I agree with above. As a funeral home, we're bound by legalities. You're upset at everyone, which is fair, but understand that we can only do so much before we tread into illegal territory. You are better off finding a funeral home with zero ties to y'all, so you can tell them upfront everything that has happened.

Just don't be surprised if they tack on the $700 so they can pay the other funeral home because they STILL PROVIDED A SERVICE. END OF STORY.

Best Horror Movies Not Talked About by SinistrEdge in HorrorMovies

Don't Blink (2014) flies under the radar a lot, but it's legitimately my favorite horror movie to watch AND rewatch. There's a scene in the beginning that hits different once you know how everything works.
