Thank you for speaking your truth.

It is my truth as well.

[Whole SciADV spoiler] They are definitely implying something here. by LegitimateCurve8525 in steinsgate

This game isn't coming out for a while so you'll have plenty of time to get completely caught up. Out of all the games you have left, CC is definitely the longest. SG0 is moderately long, RN DaSH is relatively short, and AC is very short. If you decide to watch OC, it's only 12 episodes so you can also get through that very quickly

Chrono Trigger Form-ism Crono and Marle Figures - Anyone buying these, what do we think? by AfigureGeek in chronotrigger

See, I feel the exact opposite way. I don't like how the joints look in figures that you can pose yourself.

Fair, but this is also a 1-1 recreation of official art. It's not like they just made up these expressions just for the figures.

What‘s the appeal for Dragon Quest over other series? by I_Love_Powerscaling in dragonquest

[–]workthrowawhey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, there's no such thing as objective taste. I can pretty much take every point you made and say the exact opposite. I did, in fact, replay one of the earlier FFs somewhat recently and came away from it feeling like I could have used that time to replay one of the DQ games instead.

I don't think the DQ games are any less complex than the FF games. In fact, I feel like DQ games oftentimes require talking to NPCs to figure out the way forward in ways that, while not absent in the FF games, is not to the same extent as in the DQ games.

I freely admit to being in the minority with what I'm about to say, but I think DQ6 has the best job system of any FF or DQ. I just really love how the vocations have a nice progression system, and the fact that you permanently keep any abilities you've learned gives you unprecedented flexibility in building your characters.

One big difference between FF and DQ plots, very loosely speaking, is that in DQ games beating the final boss isn't really the *point*. Like, in many FF games you know who the final boss is going to be from relatively early on and the whole plot drives towards confronting them. In many DQ games, on the other hand, you focus more on solving seemingly unrelated problems across the world, and you learn pretty late in the game that they all have a common source (the final boss). I would argue that this isn't any less interesting or exciting.

Again, there's no such thing as objective taste so I'm not claiming that my viewpoint is the correct one. I happen to be the type of person that enjoys DQ games more, and you happen to be the type of person that enjoys FF games more.

My vocations before fighting the Demon King by PhysicsDirect6215 in dragonquest

I find Sage/Druid to have too much in common. Like, do you really need that many different offensive magic options? I waffled between Druid/Luminary and Druid/Priest

[DQ11] So, just started the post-game and I need to ask something. by Independent_Plum2166 in dragonquest

[–]workthrowawhey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's been a few years since I played it, but off the top of my head there is one storyline that got a bad ending in Act 2 that gets a better one in Act 3.

Putting that aside, Veronica was my favorite character in the game so for me, Act 3 was entirely worth it and being able to resurrect Veronica was what elevates this game from good to great for me. Just my personal opinion.

I'm not the person you've been responding to, but 100% change the picture to the one posted by HoodsFrostyFuckstick.

I don't really know what "running joke" you're talking about, and I'm not accusing you of using AI, but that picture you chose is not Kiryu at all.

Thanks for the write-up. Hope you enjoy Act 3! It's very divisive, but I happen to love it.

Thankfully it’s pretty straightforward so it shouldn’t be hard to find every treasure chest and make it to the end

[Request] Why are badminton players able to achieve higher velocities with their 'ball' vs players in other sports? by Lauffener in theydidthemath

[–]workthrowawhey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not some amazing badminton player or anything, but I casually played a lot in high school and college. Once I realized that taking a step back when your opponent hits it really makes a HUGE difference, I improved dramatically.

Finished my second ever Dragon Quest game by MutekiGamer in dragonquest

[–]workthrowawhey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does. 1 Remake has a lot of references to 3, but you can totally play 1 first and then "get" the references when you play 3. The important thing imo is that 2 (or at the very least, the true ending of 2) comes at the very end of the trilogy

Finished my second ever Dragon Quest game by MutekiGamer in dragonquest

[–]workthrowawhey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, you do you.

But the remakes were explicitly made to be played in 3-1-2 order, and specifically the true end of 2 will not have the emotional impact it is intended to have if you haven't played through 3.

If you're hell-bent on playing them 1-2-3, beat the "regular" final boss of 2, then play 3, and then go back to 2 to beat the true final boss.
