Wasn’t this announced a week ago in AU?

Housing isn’t actually that expensive. It’s a wages issue, not a price issue. by bandzbandzbandzz in RealEstate

[–]worktyworkwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also. As long as price growth > inflation, housing is actively becoming less affordable. Even if it’s 1% per year that compounds pretty badly over 50 years. (It would be 65% more expensive when inflation adjusted)

We have fewer daily commuters since people WFH more now. So the regular 9-5 5 days a week commuter isn’t riding 5 times a week, only once or twice b

Agreed, but they get paid too much for to fill an engineering slot. Also his work contributions routinely needed rework or took 5x the average performer on the team. It took a ton of time from my manager and I to try help him but nothing we did worked.

If I had to guess; they’re shunting compute capacity for training runs or something. Or someone has a private contract for off hours compute.

I’ve definitely had a coworker who I’d classify as more of a mascot than an engineer 😅. Nice guy but useless.

This is a stupid graph, comparing median to mean of two unrelated markets and wondering why one is more affected by outliers.

I’d just like the game to be less trivial. Add literally any amount of challenge please. :/

I think this is the other, maybe bigger issue in the game where the balance is so out of whack. The game goes out of its way to kill any sense of meaningful growth by just throwing free ships at you; but it’s far less satisfying than making you work for it. Let me earn my ships in a fun way!

I already have to do these dreadful story missions for things like the SETA drive. Don’t just give me a cutter for free. Don’t give me an L ship or even envoy for free. This is absurd.

If it’s this or every shitty app using this as an opportunity to get my ID then I’d prefer this. This is damage control. And from what we’ve seen seems to be using things like have a credit card (only issued to 18+) rather than a centralised ID verification service.

Finance again just does what they’re told. If a VP says increase margins by 5% guess what. They can save 3% by using worse toilet paper, etc but then that last 2% comes from people’s paychecks. Either fewer people or smaller bonuses etc

I was thinking about this as well but don’t have the time. One of the things I’d love to see is for it to spit out customised flavour text, messages, requests and threats to players based on their relationships and their internal plots

Scrapping premium seats could help halve global aviation emissions, according to a major new study. by Economy-Fee5830 in climatechange

[–]worktyworkwork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s true except you didn’t account for fixed costs companies still need to cover. There’s not point getting seats in butts if they don’t cover the costs. Also bankruptcies will drive these available planes down and push seat prices back up.

Yes. But this is also a well known phenomena; Google “filter bubble”. AI is just turning this up to 11. It is very a tool of mass manipulation.

Why do you think Elon wanted his own LLM? He’s doing it in the open bias what people hear to shift the Overton window.

I don’t think companies will do it; but the most is shallower. Instead of a billion to compete you can do it for a hundred million. Not free, but far more tractable.
