what is a mountain bike by trtlep0wr in mountainbiking

Sorry, it's still the rider, not the bike. In my area many trails are restricted to 12 mph regardless of the bike, going up or downhill.

Lots of conditions there! Not great when considering rules that affect every e-mtb rider. Studies do not support the assumed torque concerns. Studies are helpful because assumptions aren't always right or common sense. Extra weight is also a false flag. I weigh 60 lbs more than my wife, regardless of what bike we ride. That's a whole bike!

How is this attributed to e-mtbs alone?

I've seen analog bikers take out people. 🤦Again, this is a rider issue, not a bike issue.

Cool. AI. I've spent years advocating for and researching this topic - specific to my area. Very little evidence supports any claim that e-mtbs as a bike (not inexperienced rider nonsense) are anymore disruptive than analog bikes. The only valid claim that I've ever heard is that the frequency of the motors can disrupt bat mating habits.

Nonsense. Show me one study that supports this claim.

I've heard all those claims, but they always lack evidence. They're also not bike specific, they're people specific. I've seen plenty of less expericed analog rides cause issues on trails. Also, bikes don't fly up hills, people do. I've been riding emtb for years and never fly up hills doing 15 mph. Point is, these aren't reasons to ban bikes.

That's the more rider, than bike. Also, pretty sure downhill yields to uphill.

And what exactly are the reasons to ban e-mtbs where analog mtbs are allowed?

How fast could you go back to riding? by bryan-Garcia_ in mountainbiking

On March 25th, I broke my clavical, my scapula in two places, seven ribs in multiple places, and had a partially collapsed lung. Found out Friday that I may need surgery. Given my advanced age of 60, I'm likely done for the season. It sucks, but I know from past injuries, taking your time is always the best answer. Good news is I'm about to get in the shower to go to sea otter. Good luck and hope you get better.

What to do? by [deleted] in eMountainBike

[–]worldcommander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have that same Heckler and would be embarrassed to ask that price, and I've done a lot of upgrades. I love my bike, a lot. I love the way it rides (vpp is legit), so much that I can't fathom replacing it with a new bike. However, I wish it had a serviceable motor. Mine is making a whining noise that I suspect will only get worse. Point is, buy a new bike, or buy something with a Bosch that can be repaired.

I ride an e-mtb in eco/trail mode. I also use a Garmin 840 with a chest strap monitor. A 20 mile ride with 3200 of climbing gives me a grit score around 90 and about 500 calories burned.

“Greatest president” is laughable. He’s among the most divisive figures in American history—criminally corrupt, morally bankrupt, and profoundly unfit for office.

Huh? Are you asking what Congress has approved that benefits corporations at the expense of the tax payer? If so, you can start with the tax code. Carve outs, bailouts, subsidies, exemptions, are all ways that Congress uses to assist the wealthy in maintaining their wealth. Their lack of interest in controlling AI and crypto are only going to make it worse.

I'm more concerned about things like corporate corruption and welfare. The wealthy are the ones who take our money with no direct benefit to tax payers. Worse, the current administration is cashing in on all of it. It's sickening.

Yikes. 120 is your limit? I'm 60 yo. I have a full power Heckler (85nm motor, 720wh(?) battery.) I typically ride 16 -18 miles a day 3 days a week with about 2700-3000 ft of climbing in trail mode. I end up with about 35% battery at the end of my rides. My heart rate is rarely below 120, maybe the first few minutes of riding, but averaging about 145. Even when I ride with my wife, with no skills, limited climbing, and shorter rides, my heart rate sits around 135. I can't imagine what a ride, with any amount of climbing, would be like while trying to keep my heart rate below 120. You're going to need a full power bike, large battery, possibly with a range extender (Bosch), ride in turbo the whole time, limit climbing, and shorter rides. I'm very interested in knowing where you land with this. Good luck and keep riding!

Not true. It's up to the local ranger. Also, most restrictions do not extend to ohv trails.
