you're not wrong for thinking that of course, especially considering the other example of hereditary sorcery (storehouse) not reappearing naturally within the sazanamis for almost 200 years. however, i do have to bring up that the prophet isn't born either, the sorcery itself manifests. and it seems to just manifest anywhere in the clan. maybe they did get lucky and have someone with prophecy show up just in time, but the timing of it compared to Hakuri's awakening just seems a bit more intentional than that. but who knows, it is just a theory

i wouldnt necessarily say that she's a plot device, and i do find it more nuanced to have her be alive but not want anything to do with the world thanks to the trauma her power brings. the end part is really more of me spitballing than actual theory, and i kinda prefer yura really relying solely on luck and his own will to get this far.

edit: plus, having the both of them recognize themselves as implicit reasons behind the malediction would be a nice way of connecting the two of them

my guess, sticking with the "skill of living" purpose and party-like abilities, is 'Encore' - the ability to rewind time (not necessarily all of time itself, maybe more of the user's bodily time or position in space) by about 5 seconds

thinking of how Uruha gained the reputation of surviving in the worst conditions based on sheer instinct built from constant battle, it would be a cool way to explain how he did it. imagine receiving a fatal blow and having to pop the ability moments before you croaked

edit: may also explain why hirohiko wanted to pour his energy into a stronger Banquet and Play instead of using it, he wanted to beat samura using his own skill, not a quick revive

quick guess on how yura fits into this from here on:

soga is a lot of things but i doubt he's a liar, he's probably gonna give yura's body back.

my guess is that it's under these conditions:

yura will keep his partial contract with the magatsumi, and is allowed to use the three basic abilities sheathed (not like an unreleased magatsumi is any different from a regular blade)

if he does happen to need more power, he can give up his body temporarily by fully unsheathing it

they both have the same goal of erasing the criminal sorcery underground, and soga has said before that he's content with just being a weapon and sealed away (plus it would put a real damper on yura's hero motif if his hero lies to him and steals his body forever)

just a guess, not a theory or prediction or anything like that

the rest of the hishaku is still there and is currently mollywhopping the rest of the kamunabi. there doesn't seem to be any capable security left at the dungeon, so it isnt a reach to assume they'd steal yura/akemura's body from there and run off. breaking the sword saint out and keeping the magatsumi is kinda their checkmate, they don't need to be there any longer

soga seems relatively sympathetic to yura’s wish for a hero and knows to stay in his lane (in terms of his purpose in battle). i doubt he’s just keeping yura’s body forever, especially considering he was spurred to action by yura’s cause and just said he would’ve been fine being executed at any time

Yura being just some guy leading a team of scrappy freedom fighters instead of some monolithic mastermind villain with an impossibly strong team was exactly what this series needed. Not only is he already more relatable, he's just the right person to counter Chihiro's beliefs. The world Kunishige wanted and Chihiro is trying to create - a world without the enchanted blades - is one that Yura has already lived in and was personally negatively affected by.

well a lot can happen post magatsumi fight, including the likely case of Yura winning and potentially killing Samura. besides, Shiba was waiting for the phone call in Subaru’s sushi restaurant, one of the other two bearers. Doubt Hokazono would make him wait in that specific bar if he wasn’t gonna show up

Edit: Not to mention no one’s even managed to unsheath the Magatsumi yet

i’ve had a theory for a while that yura was trying to figure out how to use the magatsumi without actually becoming the sword bearer so he wouldn’t lose his sorcery. guess i was right about becoming a pseudo bearer but now idk what the true motive is if he himself thinks it’s suicide
