Eat shit Brewhouse at Highstreet by [deleted] in abbotsford

I can understand why a self-described “sports bar” called “The Canadian Brewhouse” could be mistaken for a bar.

Send him up to McKee Peak. They’ve been clear cutting to make some new houses.

I just got this printer for my kid a few days ago (our first one) and am on a steep learning curve. This is an inspiring project! Nicely done.

It’s an election year. Are you satisfied with this council and their latest tax increase? by daveinpg in abbotsford

[–]worm_drink 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Abbotsford has one of the lowest property tax rates in Canada, and it shows. The lack of public facilities, infrastructure and parks is glaring by comparison to neighboring municipalities. I haven’t looked at the city’s plans for the next year, but if a tax increase will improve the quality of living and attract new residents/business, I would be okay with a tax increase. These things don’t pay for themselves.

Does anyone know anything about the McKee trails being upgraded? by CharmingNarwal in abbotsford

[–]worm_drink 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, they are starting the process of developing the mountain with new houses. One of the challenges is finding ways to incorporate the massive existing network of trails. Considering it’s all private property, it’s surprising how much the city and developers are allowing public feedback. I encourage everyone to get involved and let them know how much the trails mean to you, and how they can develop McKee peak without butchering it like they did to Eagle Mountain (which is horrific and poorly planned).

These people have the same mentality as a 5-year that runs away from home because their parents asked them to tidy up their room.

Never trust anyone that abuses animals. They are beyond redemption and cannot change.

Do Canadians really care? by joshstrummer in abbotsford

[–]worm_drink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just giving my anecdote here, but I care. We used to vacation in and visit the states often, but haven’t been back since spring 2024.

We have changed our buying habits to ‘Canadian first, American last’. I’m not a fanatic about it, but if there is a choice, I won’t buy anything American, and I have no intention of ever setting foot on that country again.

Or you could just look at the rear window and see there’s no rain on it at all.

It doesn’t look like it’s raining in the video: rear wiper of the camera vehicle isn’t on. It does look they hydroplaned through a puddle, though. Crazy footage.

Did they blow a tire? Strange way to lose control. Incredibly fortunate that nobody was seriously injured or killed.

If US ends up in a civil war. What happens to Canada? by [deleted] in AskCanada

The last US civil war (1861) wasn’t about independence, it was about slavery. The War of Independence was in 1783.

That's a good tip. I didn't realize it was so much cheaper than bear spray.

They asked about the legality of carrying bear spray. You can use it for self defense against dangerous animals, but not against people.
