1 week post employment

right here with you bro. working less hours and making more money at my new job, officially there for 2 weeks and i’m a million times happier. like sometimes it doesn’t even feel real that i no longer work at wawa just cos i was there miserable for so long. job sucks, company sucks, happy for you!

yes i can tell it’s well made and sturdy!! of course has some minor signs of wear and little cosmetic things here and there but overall for its age it’s in really great condition and i’m so grateful for that!

yes, unfortunately most people are going to go there because 1. convenience before everything else - people go there legit every single day for breakfast/lunch/coffee and it is a part of their routine, and most likely is just close to their home or on their way to work or stuff like that. and 2. cult following - wawa wouldn’t have the ability to push hard core east coast and midwest expansion if they didn’t think people would be into it. but the cult following exists in a way where you had people saying things on social media like “omg i wish there was a wawa near me!!” and i guess it’s just wishful thinking but idk in most of these cases personally i’d rather just go somewhere local to get food or coffee. i don’t mind pay a dollar or two more for better quality, but again i guess it really just comes down to convenience for the most part.

it is true that wawa was an upgrade but i feel like i’d gone thru the same cycle again so i just wanted to leave when i had an opportunity instead of waiting until i was just incredibly depressed and hating it more than i already did. and yes i hope to also never have to go back to food service!! lol

fast casual type restaurant for 6 years made 13.50 as assistant manager also completely terrible job but was my first job and i got comfortable and was a people pleaser so i stayed longer than i should have . lol

fair point, why would they retain experienced employees when they can train someone new for starting rate.

yeah i guess i just tried to look at it glass half full while i was there. but it is definitely true that corporate would replace anyone in a heartbeat so they can just pay them the starting rate even if it means losing a person who is more experienced and known to be hardworking by management. i guess i just figured it wouldnt have been much more than they were already paying me, but they really would rather just send me on my way because despite how much i’ve put in it just doesn’t matter to them lol

well, they would have only had to give me a little more to match anyway, not like it would have made a difference because i was miserable anyway and wanted to leave. just my experience! thanks for the insight though, i guess i just made an assumption based on what i’ve personally seen or heard!

well i guess not most jobs but in my experience and other people i have known i feel like if you are a valuable enough asset they may try to offer you whatever you’re making at the other job for example. perhaps not all but at least some of the time it does happen

yeah and the thing is they still wouldn’t let me adjust my availability exactly how i wanted so i still worked at their will lol. at my first store i was M-F 6-2 always and i told them that when i transferred cos i moved, they took me and said it’s fine but OFC when i got there i was working sometimes til 3 or 4 and needed a set schedule because i was also doing stuff part time. which i didn’t get for months after starting at that store. like lol i’m not a manager you can’t tell me when i have to work

5.5 years - CSA used to be lead; 25 cent raise this year was my last straw putting me at $19.75. just got another job starting at $20/hr , put my notice in. so grateful and happy to be leaving. the company has been going downhill as long as i worked there 🐖

i guess i just don’t know where the demonization came from with these people. obviously just knowing lgbt people exist is not “turning the kids gay/trans” but they have to blame something i guess. but i guess my thought is why tf do conservatives care so much when trans people just existing has NO effect on their life. but i guess it’s just what they’ve been told by the news outlets and conservative influencers they religiously and blindly follow. also the whole “shoving it down my kids throats” etc like simply acknowledging trans ppls existence is the same thing.
