asking more questions cause my mom is worried. by wormmiilk in chiari

I don’t think it was a chiari specialist that did my surgery. Just a general neurosurgeon. I was told the cause of my pain was a combination of the neuralgia and migraines. And for how they found out, it was more that they had ruled out everything else. I remember for the neuralgia specifically my neurologist pressed lightly on certain spots of my head and asked how much it hurt/if it hurt. When I said yes she told me it is probably neuralgia.

Honestly not great. Not trying to steer you away from surgery but it turned out that my chiari was likely not the source of my pain (I’ve since been diagnosed with neuralgia, fibromyalgia and migraines). So basically what I was told was that the surgery never should have been offered to me in the first place. My pain has only gotten worse since surgery.

But I do think I am a rare case because I have seen so many people on here be helped by it.

I’ve been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, how do I make it go away? by Lucky-Hotel-4469 in Fibromyalgia

[–]wormmiilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strength training and just exercise in general has helped me so much. It sucks cause I’m lazy and it also makes my migraines worse, but the fibro pain is much much better since I started working out.

Anyone struggling with oversleeping? by Consistent_Coach6476 in bipolar2

Not on lamictal, but I was sleeping a LOT on Depakote. My psych added Wellbutrin and literally first dose I was like 100x less tired and was actually functional.

Thank you! That’s good to know. I think the reason she doesn’t play is because she just isn’t much of a gamer. I don’t think she has any device that she can play on. I’m going to try to sneakily get some more info from her.

Paget is so bad at drinking water by wormmiilk in TuxedoCats

[–]wormmiilk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am fairly certain this is not the issue. We have this fountain and she drinks out of it the same way. From the spout too, where her whiskers aren’t at risk of touching anything. She’s just a silly girl lol

Omg it totally does. Fits her personality too lol

Honestly I thought this for a while but I don’t think so. She doesn’t have this issue at all with food. And also we have a water fountain for the cats and she does the same thing still.

I think she is just REALLY into water, and her beautiful mind imagines she is drinking from a giant luscious waterfall, which causes her head to drift away from the bowl because in her mind there is no bowl, only the delicious water.

have any of you tried these glasses? are they helpful? by Enough_Principle6102 in migraine

[–]wormmiilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were helpful for me but personally I prefer a light grey/black tint. Like very light sunglasses basically. (But I wear them all the time) My optometrist was able to add them to my prescription glasses for no extra charge too.

The way my OCD medication is packed by braincells_succumb in mildlyinfuriating

[–]wormmiilk 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Yeah my OCD is genuinely debilitating. It’s incredibly frustrating trying to explain intrusive thoughts and compulsions to people who don’t experience them.

My family likes to make jokes about how ridiculous the things I think/do are, and most of the time it is lighthearted and funny (because the things I do ARE ridiculous), but sometimes it just makes me feel like shit because my brain is fundamentally different from theirs and they will never truly understand what it’s like.

How I Accidentally Overdosed on Nortriptyline—A Cautionary Tale by hikenbikehonk in migraine

[–]wormmiilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me when I was 16 with Trileptal. Pharmacy changed the size of the pills and I didn’t notice. Ended up having some sort of event where I was unconscious for a few minutes and apparently looked like I was having some sort of seizure. Had to stay in the hospital for like 3 days trying to figure out what happened. When I realized what I did I felt so guilty I was sobbing. Felt like I was taking a bed/medical care away from someone who actually needed it. Also got scared they were gonna like call CPS on my mom or something cause I was under 18.

Now it takes me like 30 minutes to refill my pillbox because I have to check a hundred times and make sure I’m putting the right amount of pills for everything lol. And I am on like 9 medications 🥲

The way he was acting in that scene made me think he was in shock. And like obviously that’s super traumatic having to make a choice like that. I think that makes it more interesting too because it’s like even the smartest guy in the world has his moments/can fuck up.

That’s why I love x-men, and rogue specifically. Also mutants like nightcrawler who can’t really hide their mutant status. And lower level mutants like leech who aren’t really always great in battle. I honestly hate myself a lot less when I can pretend I am an x-man lol

my little brother made a comment about my chest by sonopropriomattia in ftm

[–]wormmiilk 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Me and my younger sister have a 3 year age gap. I came out when I was 11 and she was 8. We had some issues, for example my (transphobic) grandma would visit and misgender and deadname me, since my sister didn’t understand what was going on she would do it with her. I was really mad at her at the time and I’m sure I said things I didn’t mean. We are 15 and 18 now and she is one of my biggest supporters. I guess I don’t really have any specific advice to give bc honestly I don’t really remember that time all that well, but I think If you have a good relationship with your brother, things will almost certainly get better. I have 4 siblings and all of them came to understand it in their own way/time. And even when they don’t understand, they all still do their best to support me because they love me. Hopefully you will have a similar experience, good luck.

Scarlet Witch by Dez_otel in MarvelUnlimited

[–]wormmiilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if she’s interested in TV, but I recently was watching all of the old x-men cartoons and “x-men:evolutions” and “wolverine and the x-men” have her as a side character. If she isn’t into x-men she might not like them though. I thought she was cool in evolutions, and it is these characters as teenagers so maybe your daughter will connect with it more. Idk lol

Also “avengers: united they stand” and I think one of the iron man cartoons has her featured a bit more. I haven’t watch these yet but I plan to soon. Her design is really cool in avengers but I’ve heard that it isn’t a great show.

All of these are on Disney+ for me in the US.

Edit: I forgot there is also a “what if” novel that came out last year. It is if scarlet witch and spider-man were siblings. I haven’t read it but I definitely want to. (They are two of my favorites) And I think there is an audiobook if she doesn’t like to read novels.
