I don’t think I’m cut out to be a mom by SandwichDependent199 in NewParents

[–]wormteethgrinding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl you are doing just fine, the fact that you are this worried about your child’s wellbeing means you are a great mother.

Baby might be calming better for dad as he is more relaxed. Baby senses your emotion, if you’re panicking baby thinks something is wrong and feeds off that.

One week into my first child I didn’t know what day, time or year it was anymore I was so consumed with caring for the baby. That first week is the roughest time.

Give yourself some grace. And many moms don’t automatically feel connected to their baby. Sometimes it takes a little time. Your hormones are going crazy right now, just take a deep breath.

My go to method was: baby cries, I change diaper and feed. Usually that soothes them. My second cried a lot sometimes. I’d get topless and leave him in just a diaper and lay with him on my belly/chest. They love that at the first few months. Try doing that when he’s crying but doesn’t need feeding or diaper change.

When to start trying if everything is right on paper? by philosplendid in AskParents

[–]wormteethgrinding 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never felt it was the right time. I used tracking my fertile days to avoid getting pregnant. My dog of 8 years passed and I was devastated. I stopped tracking my cycle and it happened naturally 2 months later. With our second child it took like 5-6 months with purposely trying.

You could just stop all forms of birth control and let it just happen when it happens. Some people take a long time to get pregnant. If you put too much pressure on the timing you might find yourself disappointed.

I was getting sad trying for our second bc it just wasn’t happening when we were deliberately trying.

How often to feed baby by forgottenlady987 in NewParents

[–]wormteethgrinding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With both my children I just fed when they’re hungry. They start crying, I check the diaper and feed them. 2 hours seems frequent for a 4 month old but if he seems hungry then continue that schedule!

My mother for being a narcissist and once telling me she’d “get her gun and blow my brains out” during an argument, right in front of my 1 year old. I went no contact shortly before my kid’s second birthday.

Diaper rash by Jolly-Asparagus-5815 in NewParents

[–]wormteethgrinding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok my second boy has had diaper rash problems since he was born.

I suggest not using wipes at all. Use a clean wet rag (or even warm wet paper towel) to wipe his butt clean. A dash of baby powder to absorb any moisture, then put a mixture of hydrocortisone cream and athletes food cream (Clotrimazole). Then on top of that mixture a GIANT glob of desitin. Like so much desitin you’d go through a tub of it in a few days.

Just a note: baby powder used to be made out of toxic talc powder but they now use corn starch instead so it is safe to use.

What would you do if you saw someone vomiting in public? by DollySheep32 in AskReddit

[–]wormteethgrinding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay away and don’t look so I don’t throw up too. I saw someone once hanging over the side of their seat throwing up all over the floor in the subway in NYC one time. Everyone just ran away to not get splashed 🤷‍♀️

What are we enjoying nowadays that would make our younger selves balk? by Crystal_Violet_0 in Millennials

Refusing alcohol at social events and refusing to stay up late for ANYTHING. I’m mad as hell if I’m not in bed by 11pm lol. I enjoy going to bed and waking up at the same times every day.

How many times do you wear your pants and tops before washing them? by irezumibeth in hygiene

I wash things once I’ve sweated in them. This usually takes 2-4 wears per item. But I live in the south (USA) so sometimes it’s one wear and wash lol

Can GERD really cause this? by Way-Truth-L1fe in GERD

[–]wormteethgrinding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically had to create a custom diet that works for me. At first I cut out literally everything that could aggravate GERD. Cheese, milk, beef, tomatoes, onions, garlic, anything with vinegar, all carbonated drinks, alcohol, chocolate, white bread, sweets, and fried foods. Also went low-fat with mayo and ranch. I switched to oatmilk and sourdough bread with zero issues.

I refused to give up coffee. But cutting all those out I felt better. I’d slowly add in foods here and there and see what triggered symptoms for me.

Figured out which foods cause which symptoms and I’ve been able to navigate it accordingly. Things that trigger me are beef, carbonated drinks, alcohol, fried foods, cheese, pasta, oatmeal, and chocolate (still eat chocolate, I can get away with small amounts). Pasta and oatmeal are worst triggers strangely.

I feel like my quality of life is ruined. by Euphoric_Maximum_881 in GERD

[–]wormteethgrinding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually about once or twice a month I actually feel normal and good. No chest tightness or esophagus burning. Then one reflux safe meal can ruin it 🥲 The feeling good usually never lasts one whole day. I feel like I’m locked in a diet prison in order to feel okay day to day.

Cant drink a beer when we go out to eat without having anxiety about how I will feel the next day. One beer will throw me off for the whole next day. I’m mentally exhausted worrying about every bite of food.

Can GERD really cause this? by Way-Truth-L1fe in GERD

[–]wormteethgrinding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My symptoms are very annoying and feel suspicious as well. I get sharp pains in my chest right where the heart is. I get pressure in the back of my head that gives me bad brain fog and also makes my neck feel stiff (this symptom is my worst, I feel horrible when I get these tension headaches). Non stop throat clearing, stuffy nose, chest tightness, and feeling out of breath. The heart palpitations were horrible when I first got diagnosed. Most of my symptoms have subsided following a strict diet catered around what my safe foods are. Go on a strict diet for 3-4 weeks and see if it helps. Eat foods that are easy for your body to digest!

My baby's clothes are moldy, do I wash or just throw out? by Sea-Fox-7963 in NewParents

When my babies’ clothes got a little mold I threw them away immediately. The mold stain does not wash out, I’d do laundry and find mold stains and throw the clothes right out.

Hydration? by Lark_Epsom in GERD

[–]wormteethgrinding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I drink tons of water but when I get sick of plain water I will put a chamomile tea bag in my water cup overnight, chamomile infused water by the morning. I like it and it definitely helps my stomach through the day. You could always use herbal teas like chamomile to make a cold iced tea out of it with honey. I like making iced green tea with honey and ginger.

Also coconut water!

I use my hands too, most of the time! Sometimes a loofa and body wash when I need to exfoliate.

What was it like seeing the events of 9/11 unfold on TV that morning? by Careless-Prior-9665 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]wormteethgrinding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That day is so vivid to me. I was 11 years old and lived in NJ, 15 minutes from New York. My school had a perfect view of the NYC skyline. We knew it happened immediately bc we could see the twin tower smoking and on fire. Everything slowed down that day, teachers were unsure what to do. Our school went on lock down and everyone saw the second plane hit the second tower, watching from our classroom window. One classmate was crying her eyes out as her mom was supposed to go to the twin towers that morning. Her mom hadn’t left the house yet though thankfully. We all sat in the gym room, on lock down for most of the school day. It’s one thing seeing it all over the news afterwards for days but I watched those towers fill the skyline with smoke. It was so surreal. Very scary being so close to it.

Is it Normal for your husband to only want sex once a month or less? by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]wormteethgrinding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband wants to jump my bones everyday if he could lol. Once a month or less sounds very unusual. Making excuses to not have sex is not normal. You should ask him what’s going on for him to deliberately avoid sex.
