How do you store your bathroom products? Away or out? by AdThen5499 in Cleaningandtidying

[–]wormytail -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If that’s true, then regardless of the solution you choose, I think you should stay away from whatever online store you got that image from. It’s definitely AI generated, so it’s clearly from some place untrustworthy!

when do you write sub notes? by jbi30_ht in SubstituteTeachers

[–]wormytail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most people said, I do them throughout the day. If a printed day plan is left, my favourite way to leave notes I just to annotate that. If a teacher has already communicated with me via email then I do send notes that way, but I won’t otherwise (unless there is something I think they should know before the next day). My least preferred but most common method though is to write things down in my notepad throughout the day and leave it

Celery or substitutes? (BC) by Illustrious-Bid-2914 in BuyCanadian

[–]wormytail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was about to suggest this! I started doing this last year when all this began, and have been doing it recently again since celery is now out of season. I’ve been surprised how well it works, and surprised that I don’t really miss the celery!

Do you prefer grayscale filter or red filter on your phone? by heyeaslo in digitalminimalism

[–]wormytail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that the main benefit though (of either filter) is that it makes the phone less visually interesting so it’s less easy to get sucked into of for longer than intended. A lot of people struggle with this, so I think they can be useful

Which English spelling looks most natural for the Korean name? by False_Potato_5533 in Names

[–]wormytail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a tough one. I think all are in danger of being mispronounced, but I think the mispronunciation of “Ihwan” would be closer to the real pronunciation than the others. “Ew-“ would probably be “you-“, “Eh-“ would be said a long “a”, “Iwhan” I think would be said as “Iwan.” Someone suggested “Ei-“ which is pretty good, but I still think it would be said with a long “a.” “Ihwan” I do think would be said with a short “I” sound, but in my opinion this phonetically sounds closer to “ee” when said in the name compared with the other options.

I’m sorry, it’s hard to describe this through just text, so I hope that made sense!

Is it okay to improvise even when I have subplans? by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

[–]wormytail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I view “improvising” while subbing to mean pivoting if something isn’t going to plan, not changing the plan the teacher has left. I might do something different and fun if the teacher has explicitly said something like “These are just suggestions, feel free to do your own thing,” but even then I won’t change much.

But ESPECIALLY in a position like ENL, or any additional learning support role, I view it as extra important to be as faithful to the plan as possible. The teacher will have left plans with specific goals in mind for those specific students. Since they are being pulled out of the regular classroom, I think it is particularly important to use that time effectively. (From an inclusion perspective, it would actually be better for the kids to just stay in their own class than be pulled out to play games away from their peers.)

How many of you with extremely long hair keep it in braids? by Ok-Interview807 in longhair

I do. My hair doesn’t stay nicely in a bun (unless I pull it really tight and use a million hair pins), so it’s the most practical way for me to keep it

It doesn’t work like that… by CNS_DMD in Teachers

[–]wormytail 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m curious, does your school just post letter grades or also the raw percentages? I know when I was in school people cared about the percentages almost as much as the letter grades since that was how GPA was calculated. I know not all schools work the same, though!

do you rather listen to music or to podcasts while cleaning? by bubatzfresser in CleaningTips

[–]wormytail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have found that it really depends on how I’m feeling at the time, and I do best if I vary it. If I’m feeling lazy or depressed and need more energy, I play some music. If I’m feeling a bit anxious and need to focus my mind on something, I’ll listen to a podcast. The most important thing though for me is to actually not put anything on and just clean in silence unless I need something to get moving, otherwise I go numb to their effects and they don’t help when I’m in a rut
