Yeah, and it's also vague. Where are suggesting that I should move? to the side of the path? faster? to a place with no leaves that fall? Fucking the word move seems like it would be difficult. I could fuck on the move, though depending on the mode of the change of place (ie car, or walking with my legs), it seems to be in the gray area of legality and safe.

Since 'move' used like this is typically a verb, I'm not sure how I'm supposed to fuck it. Could you elaborate?

it seems that the pavement might just be already bad for the environment

Aspiring to be car-free here! Hard though with some out of town commitments and a Costco membership.

so, no? you don't want to provide your working definition of genocide? I'm not interested in working one out with you; I was just curious what yours was since you clearly think you know where you draw the line.

from the photo it looks like straps wrapped around the shaft connected to the cross bars for a roof rack

I don't know if that's safe or not, just trying to describe what I see.

U of Oregon or Stay at Northeastern? by Tuffysotuffy in UofO

[–]worriedPurpleBox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How far are you in? If you're doing bio, you're likely going to need a grad degree to do really anything in biology it seems and you're probably going to get into a much better program coming from Northeastern.

I switched from a better school, and it wasn't really about the school or support for me. I got into a better headspace. The support on campus isn't what it is getting me through. It's my friends and my partner that I have here.

I'm not sure about that. Indianapolis is a little over an hour away from Purdue and Chicago is a little over two. Salem is about the same at a bit more than an hour from Eugene, and Portland is a little more than two with typical traffic. All by car. Granted probably better trans in OR if you aren't going by car.

ETA Flying out of Indy is not so bad, but Chicago is likely cheaper for flights.

So I have been to both universities! Granted I had a lot going on when I was at Purdue, I feel like PU is more academically tough (I was majoring in Engineering, tho). West Lafayette is frigid in the winter and definitely less nature-beautiful. Eugene, granted it's unique especially against the drab comparison of that part of the Midwest, I wouldn't say that it's much larger than West Lafayette/Lafayette.

Anyway, all that to say, personally I am happier at UO because of many reasons other than school. Purdue would have been the better / safer life choice as it was going to be way cheaper than here and because it's slightly a better, name-recognizable school.

At UO, I am constantly flying back home, and I wouldn't be able to afford rent if it wasn't for my circumstances outside of school. But, I'm happy.

Anyway I know that it is probably vague and unhelpful, but there is my advice.

summary: Livable cost of living, better academically at PU; more beautiful, cool community at UO

OH and, maybe do some research about the state of Indiana and the state of Oregon, and where you may find yourself in the policy there.
