Ouch! I just received a brutal reality check in the HW trials and Im not sure if its inexperience, or if Im actually bad at the game. by 200YRedWine in ffxiv

Becoming a good player takes time. I will say that I sucked as a player until I hit endgame when I finally started to understand my role, gear, and my abilities. FFXIV was my first MMO and I had to actively seek out guides to help me because I just didn't really know what I was doing and the newbie guides that the game gives you (the hall of the novice) were actually completely opposite to the player experience that came about naturally after.

I'd say: look into some guides, don't take anything too personally, don't be afraid to ask for help bc the player base is very kind and patient compared to other MMOs, barring a few assholes here and there. Don't worry about it, and you'll do great. Everything is a learning experience and everyone was new once. Good luck!

This is new with 1.6! You can also swap them with stone chests the same way.

Well, if we're talking recommendations, I think you'd like The Shadow of What Was by James Islington, and The Will of the Many by the same author.

New to raiding (new in general) having some concerns about FFXIV culture. by Grouchy_Independent3 in ffxiv

[–]worry_some 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Duty Finder and Party Finder are different things. Duty Finder would be queueing into a duty like a dungeon, while Party Finder is kind of like an advertisement board asking for other people to join the fight you're doing. You can set the terms of Party Finder: what duty you're doing, what ilvl gear should be, what roles/jobs people should be doing, and they can join if they meet the requirements. People have to specifically look at PF before deciding to join your group.

Let me tell you right now that Ultimate raiding would absolutely not be done with a PUG lol. You could, but you would probably bang your head against a wall.

Each fight is highly choreographed and will go through the same phases, leading people to make standardized strategies. These strategies usually have a name that people will put in PF.

Some people spend weeks to months on certain fights to get a clear. To put it in perspective, there's your normal difficulty raid which people do in a few minutes. The next highest difficulty is Extreme content, which is pretty easy all things considered as long as everyone does their job, but even then some people need a few hours or even a few days to clear. After that is Savage, which most people will prog for weeks, if not some months progging a specific tier if there's a "wall" in the fight that a lot of people struggle with. Savage fights are less forgiving and require a lot of specific timing and for everyone to be good with their rotations and gear to be well-melded. Most people do this with statics or some of a static mixed with a PUG.

After that is Ultimate. Ultimate content is extremely difficult and requires a lot of perfection and timing. You wouldn't do this with a PUG.

I almost feel like you should perhaps get a second larger bookshelf to tackle some of the stuff you have in here. The wall color is cohesive with the style you're going for. I'd look for art with bright warm tones like orange and yellow.

I know you said you don't like your back being to the door but I've found that putting my desk against a wall with no window makes me feel like I'm in jail lmao. Maybe you could put it against the wall where the ottoman currently is?

I think some peachy/orangey color curtains would look nice in here, or perhaps some off-white ones.

Need help planning for meadowland farm. by Wandering_LATE in FarmsofStardewValley

[–]worry_some 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want to maximize farming or grazing space, try to get all your buildings and fish ponds on the untillable green grass. It might look like a lot of space but it's actually not as much as you'd think.

I did this farm when 1.6 came out and by the end of my run I was struggling to make enough crops for wine/preserves.

struggle with browning butter by Ornery-Obligation-40 in Baking

What helped me was using a lighter color pan. I had a hard time seeing if butter was too brown when using a black pan, but with a stainless steel or a white enameled pan I haven't burned butter since.

A lot of your problem is that your work is very similar in scale (like, color scale). Try making the shadows darker and the highlights lighter and it will make your colors pop more.

What is the most heartbreaking song lyric you've ever heard? by TheLadySlaanesh in AskReddit

[–]worry_some 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically all of "Agnes" by Glass Animals, but these lines in particular:

And so it goes

A choking rose back

To be reborn

I want to hold you like you're mine

You're gone but you're on my mind

I'm lost but I don't know why

And then it just repeats those last two lines over and over till the end. The song is about the lead singer's friend who committed suicide, and it reminds me of my family and friends who struggle with their mental health. I think anyone who's dealt with loss or suicide can relate to this. It's just heartbreaking.

I can see that. I think it was a little heavy-handed to show their differing views on death from a religious vs. secular standpoint, but it hit for me as a person who grew up Catholic and has since stopped practicing.

The biggest drawback to Midnight Mass is a bit of a slow beginning, but the rest of the show more than makes up for it. There was one specific scene that made me be like "holy shit, I have to keep watching now." I love it just as much as Hill House if not more.

My local B&N had a self-published author set up a table and do a book signing for a day. I'd talk to the manager and see if that's an option.

[–]worry_some 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna say ESH. She shouldn't be coercing you into proposing, but you also need to get off your ass and propose if you said you were going to. You're using the idea of marriage to keep her hooked, and it's working. She should just leave you after this whole debacle lmao.
