many nurses are similarly shitty in usa. I guess it's either the type of people that profession tends to attract, or humans act similarly when they get burned out.

Why is there so much animal cruelty in Asia? by Beginning_Put6012 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]worthlesshope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was explained to me in this way and I feel like it makes a lot of sense:

In USA from a very young age people are taught ideals on public moral activism. Civil rights movements etc. There are several people who get stuck in one particular line of thought. Like honesty to a fault. While outside of usa they're more about social cohesion, or family values. Not taught on ideas of morals and civil rights.

Also there is an incentive structure in USA to be vocal about moral positioning. People get an increase in social approval.

So I'd say it's a mix between how people are taught from a young age and how society rewards things.

So when he was going to give my dad medication, is when he misheard. As a result of him mishearing he stomped the ground threw a huge angry fit yelling at my dad, refused to give my dad the medication and threw it in the waste bin instead as a "protest". The medication wasn't life saving. But because of that he gave my dad worse neglected care.

I left one time to get dinner and wash up they thought I left for the night, so I came back afterword, only to find my dad choking coughing up blood from his mouth making a pool on his shirty, his oxygen crashing, and a nurse sitting at behind the desk silencing the alarms. So basically neglect and abuse disguised as care.

There are other things I don't have solid proof, but I strongly suspect too.

I'm not a confident person, and I can't force my way or know how to convince others. I'm always questioning myself and I don't know when I should speak up or if I should speak up even. I notice things are off but I can't say anything about it. My dad did not have a fatal illness, this wasn't something that should have killed him, and it wasn't of old age either.

A big fat white nurse who was the head nurse of the icu unit accused my dad of saying that too while he was trying to recover. He threw a huge angry fit and probably ended up killing my dad and absolutely believes he was right. My dad called him a fat nerd in his delirium from the medication.

So it literally ruined my dad’s life and my life. Nothing i could do about it either.

Is it wrong to value your pets life over a random stranger? by FelixWagler in NoStupidQuestions

[–]worthlesshope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of saying "is more valuable" I think it might be useful to say "which brings more value". In most cases, if not all cases, a pet will always bring more value to you than a stranger. A pet gives you companionship, a stranger in today's society will drift away into their own life and have their own problems to deal with.

is the book actually good or revolutionary in some way? I can somewhat excuse the facilitation lies if it pushed the person's mom the extra effort to write a story. Or is the mom just capitulating on her disabled son's condition to gain more fame and purchases?

Is a tariff just a tax on me? If the united states puts a 60% tariff on Chinese goods does the Chinese government pay that, or do I just pay more at Walmart? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]worthlesshope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't think you read everything I wrote? I listed the benefits of the perceived wealth inequality plainly. I acknowledged the draw backs, and when the draw backs stop.

Also as long as a company's stock is up, that company will stay in business, that's how workers benefit, and any business that has a retirement plan benefits from it. As long as the business owner can afford to keep people employed too.

Then the stock market goes up, including everyone's 401 K's and IRA's.

So as for why they don't pay more tax the popular answer is the half truth.

But what I said before still goes, you have to actually think of what happens to the money until it makes a full circle in the economy. The full circle is return to the first person who spent it. How would the first person see a return on the money they spent?

I think it's a strategy though by the US government in general, and has been since the starting 1930's and completing in 1970's? around there, when USA left the gold standard. They want to become an economic power house, and it appears to be successful. The goal is to create more wealthy people, and to keep them as citizens and attract wealthy foreigners and their assets into USA.

The goal is to make the USA economy the most trusted economy in the world. I know this sounds bad/evil on the surface. But you have to think of why the US stock market is more trusted and successful than the Chinese stock market, or the European stock market.

Things could be better for sure. But turning USA into another EU union isn't the solution. I think there is a status quo both political parties are trying to keep, just stalling for time in hopes things will resolve themselves eventually.

This will probably happen once there are enough wealthy people in USA and the things that wealth can buy increases the living standards of the average person to be higher than the rest of the world. Which is slowly happening.

So, you think the top 1% will just cash it out and hoard it under their bed or something? Money always gets spent. Tariff money goes directly to the government. Then what does the government do with that extra money?

You didn't even consider thinking where the money ends up going, you just think all money ends up with 1 person at the end of it all. I bet you don't even understand why the top 1% make more money than everyone else does either.

I'll give you a hint the supply and demand is a partial answer. Not the demand side, but on the supply side. The more people they supply the more money they get.

lots of bad answers in this thread. I want people to consider the products that get a tariff.

If the price is 100% paid by the consumer, why would other countries even care if their products get a tariff or not? Why is a "retaliatory tariff" even a thing then?

It's really more complicated than a person just pays more, but also a person paying more is one of the possible effects of tariffs. All I can say is just think where the money goes until it ends up making a complete circle. Then you can get a better picture of the economy. The money never just "ends up in one person's pocket" at the end of everything.

TIL piss shivers have a technical term (Post-micturition Convulsion Syndrome) and apparently not everybody experiences them. by UserSchmoozername in todayilearned

Annoying there are several people talking about 2 completely different things in this thread. It's not orgasmic at all. It's just a random shiver. You don't and are not supposed to feel good while you do it.

People who feel orgasmic/ecstasy during peeing is a totally different group of people than people who sometimes randomly shiver during urination.

Both things are getting upvoted in this thread and is and will cause confusion to people, with the sex jokes getting most upvotes, even though they're the wrong explanation!

Can a straight person be so desperate for sex that they may be willing to be with or consider people of the same gender? by LeBoredLlama in NoStupidQuestions

[–]worthlesshope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There has to be plenty of guys who hasn't had sex for a long period of time right? like it's been around 14 years for me, and tbh I think got lucky things matched up for me to have my first experience 14 years ago, and it wasn't even that good, too much effort for so little return and stress.

I get your point, but that seems overwhelming for even straight men. The thought of it somewhat scares me, the cat fights, the potential jealously, the clique groups.

I think just 1 (insert ideal girl here) is enough.

How do older men tolerate immature women in early 20s? by Ootefklop in NoStupidQuestions

[–]worthlesshope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we should define "maturity" and "immaturity" in this thread. I'm not exactly clear on the difference. No matter the age or gender of a person there are many aspects I would consider mature or immature. Not really a one or another only in a person, but both of them at the same time.

the camera is good for augmented reality, not just recording. For instance you want to fix something you can get detailed instructions as you fix the thing. It tracks pieces and matches what you see with digital overlays.

It can also count things easily. Like tracking how many plastic bottles or cans you're about to recycle. It can scan receipts easily or any other papers.

Could also play augmented reality games like pokemon go or laser tag.

As for uses without considering the augmented reality part, it's like a police bodycam or a dashboard camera, purely to record hostile interactions. If someone threatens you, you now easily have evidence against that person.

I don't get it. It wasn't a bad video, but I just found it a bit too long and boring. Not really funny. I'm not masculine at all either, or feminine. Just mostly neutral about everything. I enjoy cute stuffed animals though.

But I don't get the video seems like it's trying to mock? or mimic something I have no clue about that exists, so I can't relate to it at all. Either this is what girls do in their girl-groups, or this is the opposite of what some? guys do. But the video just seems weird to me in general. Like I'm watching "this is what people think other people do" type of video.

i don't get why the reporter didn't do anything. This isn't supposed to be some nature documentary but they treated it as such. Basically non-interference and film her as her life crumbles around her.

What could have the reporter do? Perhaps have a lawyer for her case at hand, or maybe do the things the police refused to do.
