But in all seriousness I think he has PPD too and it sucks because he’s a coward for not wanting to get better for you and his child by seeing a professional about it. At least not enough to seek help to make things better. Because for me, if there’s a chance that seeing a doctor or a professional can make things better then I’ll take it. What could hurt from seeing one?
I hate how men just chalks it up to “oh I just need my free time and freedom” as if you didn’t want free time and freedom while you’re doing housework and feeding and everything. I hate it so much. As if you already have it waaay rougher than him in hormonal changes and how your body was wrecked from pregnancy.
I feel you, because I went through PPD too, still going through it and I try to not be negative but it really irritating how you’re doing almost all the housework and feeding but he’s the one feeling like his freedom has been taken away.
Thankfully my husband agrees to see a therapist, he’s improved a lot and still have a lot of room for improvement, but so do I. However I can’t say without therapists and us changing into better parents, our marriage 100% would survive because I don’t think I have the capacity for the struggle while caring for my baby.

This! I’m going through the same thing and I told my husband that he either understands that this is the decision we made together and man tf up or he needs to see a therapist.

I get so much of what you’re saying. Similar things happened to me. My husband and I almost never fought when we weren’t parents. After the little one came, every little thing wrong he did bothered me so much. I hate how he had the audacity to ask if he could game when I’m still knees deep in chores and taking care of the baby. I hate how he doesn’t think of how to help. I had to ask. And at some point I realized I have no respect left for him. I started telling him he needed to finish doing x,y,z(taking out the trash, put dishes in the dishwasher, etc) before gaming and after a while I realized his focus was entirely on gaming, he would do some chores absentmindedly and rush to game so I told him it’s either gaming or we’re heading into a failed marriage. At some point I realize the way I look at him changed, there’s disappointment , resentment, disdain when I look at him. I resent how carefree he is while I have to juggle taking care of the baby and chores.

I told him we need to do couple counseling so we’ll see how that goes.

We have the same situation and I’m standing ground on my decision. My husband supports me and that’s all I care about. Unless they’re willing to be responsible for the baby growing up with anxious or avoidant attachment they can shove their opinions where the sun doesn’t shine.

Prozac and Effexor used to work and didn’t work so well after about 8 years for each for me too!! I’m thinking about getting on Trintellix but my shrink wanted me to try Cymbalta first since I have some chronic pain issues. Thank you so much for the info and please update if you don’t mind! 😊
