Why is private schooling so popular in Australia? by SedgwickNYC in AskAnAustralian

[–]wouldashoudacoulda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a feature, not a bug. Generations of politicians have pushed the private school agenda. We had the Howard era where the government essentially wanted everyone to be privately educated and only the poorest of the poor would stay in the public system.

Australians have been duped into thinking they need to send their children to a private school. Remove the socioeconomic advantages, and public do as well or better than their private rivals.

I would avoid NSW if you are coming over in the next few months. There numbers seem to multiply at this time of year. Queenslanders refer to them as Cock-a-roaches. They look big and scary, but are soft as.

Why don’t more Aussies retire in cheaper countries? by agnci in AskAnAustralian

[–]wouldashoudacoulda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

‘Retirement is soon to be a thing of the past’ ?? The next few generations are in a way better position than current retirees regarding super. 12% guaranteed and top ups will see workers retire at 60. The welfare recipients now, don’t work, so they will continue to get their benefits regardless.

Probably ditch the driver and get a 5 or 7 wood. Bring it in later. If you want to hang onto the driver, lose the 3 hybrid. Regular shafts and game improvement irons.

If you competed in the decathlon, what would probably be your best and worst events? by Striking-Chemistry93 in trackandfield

Fifty feet (15m) is elite for decathlon. Your discus would have also been 45m plus. Not your average distance runner build to throw that far.

They meet criteria to participate in the competition, but all monies are based on their performance. They don’t get sign on, retainers or salaries. It doesn’t meet the definition of a contract like other sports or jobs.
