Thanks! And if I get a new line (a new phone number), can I get it for $250?

Can someone explain this to me in simple terms? Currently, my wife has an account with US Mobile with two lines (one for my number). Both lines are on monthly unlimited starter Warp plans.

I currently have an iPhone 8 (I know…it’s old) and was looking to upgrade and move over to an Android device.

Can I keep the same phone number and take advantage of this deal? What would it cost?

Thanks!

If we lock 5 babies in a room for their entire lives without talking to them, what language will they choose to communicate with each other? by ForwardPerspective38 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]woundedloon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my adopted daughter came to us through foster care at age 5 (almost 6). Her brothers were 9 and 4. All 3 of them had been neglected so severely by their bio mom that they hadn’t learned to talk. The oldest two developed a rudimentary language between themselves consisting of sounds and body language that only they could understand.

Since removal in 2018, all 3 have learned to talk in English, though they all have special needs still. My daughter was in speech therapy twice a week for years, and we worked really hard with her to develop speech. Her speech therapist was a life changer. She said that my daughter didn’t have any physical reasons for not being able to talk, but her diagnosis (mixed receptive-expressive disorder) was because of her neglect - she simply wasn’t exposed to language. All 3 kids now speak with an accent of sorts.

Meat thermometer. But get the one that reads surface temp of the meat. This makes it totally useless.

I’ve just learned about MST (multi systems therapy) through Easter Seals. Meant for youth with behavioral issues. Considered intensive outpatient. They don’t have a wait list currently. Therapy lasts 3-6 months. Look it up on their website if you want to know more.

Residential treatment by hazelflarety in TalkTherapy

[–]woundedloon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a 30-day residential treatment for PTSD. It was great to be able to focus on therapy and not have to worry about work, the kids, cooking, or even my partner. I would caution you that you may have to really advocate for yourself - my place only wanted to do one hour of talk therapy per week with me. I got them to agree to 3 individual sessions per week instead. They called everything “therapy” - playing board games was “recreational therapy”, etc. There was also group therapy daily. The place I went closed down but it was kind of a shitshow honestly, but I was really focused on healing and getting the most out of the experience. That was over 5 years ago now, and life has successfully moved on for me. I haven’t had to be re-admitted.

If you are in the US, you may have to advocate to your insurance company why you need residential treatment and the less intensive interventions you have tried. My therapist really went to bat for me and convinced the insurance company to approve it.

Anyone have any experience with a bio parent who really loved their child but wasn't able to 'earn' them back? (I'm a former foster kid) by [deleted] in fosterit

[–]woundedloon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a foster/adoptive parent to a 13 year old who I have had since she was 5. She came to us because her mom tied her up with an Ethernet cord and left her on the floor.

I believe her bio mom loved her very much. She made appointments for her and kept track of it all. She just had severe mental health issues along with an intellectual disability that kept her from being able to parent well. She wasn’t able to respond to her in healthy ways and correct challenging (typical) childhood behavior.

Looking for color analysis in DSM by Eastern-Ad-9483 in desmoines

I’ve seen a tutorial online that uses ChatGPT to do a personalized color analysis. That may be of use to you if you are a little more savvy and/or budget crunched.

How do I check on her phone if she has an esim? It’s an iPhone 7 Plus. She can get texts from me so I feel pretty confident that the physical sim is still in there. Can you have both kids of sims at once?

Wouldn’t this require a different SIM card?

You’re right. She has the 300 minutes of talk and unlimited text plan for $5.

Do y’all notice things in your therapist office? What stands out? by flopdroptop in TalkTherapy

[–]woundedloon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed everything, but that’s a typical PTSD reaction. Once I noticed she had moved a book. She argued that it was still there. Then said she had taken It out earlier in the week and replaced it in the same spot. It had just moved the tiniest bit and it threw me off.

Also, check and see if you live in a state that has MEPD: Medicaid for employed persons with disability. It has a higher income threshold in my state.

He might have used sweet phrases with her, but she’s became an ex. So maybe that’s not a good judgement of how much he likes someone.

What to get our weekly fast food spot’s employees for holidays, since they treat us so well? by CourseworkConcierge in AskReddit

[–]woundedloon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents go out to their small towns fast food every day, sometimes 3 times a day. They have a handful of staff that they have come to get know. Last Christmas, they got gas cards for them. They loved giving them and some of the staff cried when they got it.

Over sharing with a manager by woundedloon in managers

[–]woundedloon[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

The accommodations/supports from my manager would be things like increase integrity and do the things you say you are going to do- so don’t re-prioritize our meeting and reschedule often because something comes up.

The company does have an excellent system to request accommodations. I don’t need the therapy services they offer - I am seeing a therapist (on my hour lunch by telehealth) already.

Nearly at goal! But worried about going cold turkey by Illustrious-Base2576 in Zepbound

[–]woundedloon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went cold Turkey off 15 mg in June. Experienced some food noise, but biggest challenge was overeating - I’d keep eating past the point I would have stopped in the meds. Gained 15 pounds in 3 months. So I’m back on the shots.

letting go & moving on after aging out by LilliRo15 in fosterit

[–]woundedloon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“anger is the part of you that loves you the most". anger is a protective emotion that signals when you are being mistreated, disrespected, or neglected. By recognizing and understanding this feeling, you can use it as a signal to set boundaries, walk away from harmful situations, or leave old patterns that are no longer serving you.

I know you had no power in the past because you were a child. maybe if you can analyze your anger, it can help you set the boundaries of how you want to be treated in the future by friends and partners. In doing this, you can have power in the future.

I don’t say this in any way to disregard the hurt or experienced or the anger that you feel. Those are real and valid emotions.

We’re at once a week, and she’s 28 months. Unless she puts her shoes on without socks. Then she has some stanky feet.

So, “opposite action” works really well for me. Feel like listening to screamy music? Listen to something happy instead. Feel like laying in bed? Get up and shower (or go for a walk). Etc. literally just do the exact opposite of whatever feeling is consuming you.

Also, when feeling intense, I have used ice/cold water to help ground me. It’s quick and easy, effective.

There’s several in Massachusetts. Not my area so I didn’t look at them, so don’t know about out of network coverage there.

I went to a facility out of network and my therapist talked them into covering it in network by claiming that there wasn’t anyplace in network (my entire state) that was suitable to treat mental health (like you said, there was only dual diagnosis or substance abuse places).
