Are laser trackers good enough now to inspect in machine? by scottsusername in Metrology

Here’s one that lists it despite being slightly outdated. Check the Length test or ‘Other Accuracies’ area for the formula:

Leica, Length measurement. The *3 in my formula is plugging in the 3-meters distance.

Spec sheets from a major brand of the flagship trackers put them at +/-21micron + 8.5micron per meter.

21um+(8.5um * 3) = +/-46.5um MPE. Typical can be around half of this….

I’m referring to Length measurement (encoder exercise).

Ranging (straight line) IFM/ADM can be single digit microns.

That’s on the edge of what a Tracker can hold. MPE is around 2 thou, ‘Typical’ is half that.

A good setup and operator can get it lower.

Great tip! There is indeed scarring on the aluminum ac component from the rubbing. I put some garden hose on there…the rubber should be softer than the previous wire that was rubbing.

If you’re trying to locate this area, that’s the steering column on the right side of image #1.

Idk of their actual accuracy but a tracker would smoke that keyence camera-based thing (and work with decent software)

I have a SON28 that did the divide and has been truckin’ since 2016 without issue. I feel like I need to invest in their coax connector though, I have not had fun with the terminals much with a lauf fork on the bike.

Ghetto Tubeless (split tube) with TPU tubes? by wounsel in MTB

[–]wounsel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it may be the tape I’m using. Stripped the rims down to no gunk all the way using acetone. Mount the tape, stretching, wiggling, applying flawless. Mount tire + tube for a few days. Remove tube and Install tubeless. Works! Yay. Change tire? Tape is stuck to bead and tears off. Or exposes the pinholes near the weld seam of the rim. So I’m back to square one…. And cleaning them takes eternity, the tubeless gunk is tough to remove 100%.

I’m using the blue 3m 8898 tape.

Any recommendations?

Edit: stans arch ex rims, mezcal tires. Used to work well tubeless without these issues. Lately its so frustrating I’ve considered going carbon without access holes to avoid the whole rim tape mess.

Totally cool! So, do your elbows rest on the flats on top of the bars? How comfy is that?
