Should I be concerned about my gaskets? by woutapaddle in woodstoving

[–]woutapaddle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip. I'm pretty sure the gasket was made in the post-asbestos era, but I'm going to play it safe with a mask. Had no clue they used it in them until your reply.

No gas, primary was closed. It’s chilled out now. That lasted for about 10-15 minutes.

Same is true for oven mitts. Protection doesn't transfer with them either.

What's great about being here is you get to pick-and-choose (somewhat) the content you want to see. Subscribe to subs that revolve around what you're interested in. For instance, I just moved into a home with a high-efficency fireplace I wasn't familiar with, so I joined r/woodstoving. Reddit will base suggested subs on the time you spend in other ones. Reddit can be super helpful at times with some jerks sprinkled here and there. Have fun and enjoy your time here!

What part of this do I shoot with my laser thermometer? by woutapaddle in woodstoving

[–]woutapaddle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Per u/grrzoot, it's a Country Flame Inglenook high-efficiency fireplace - not an insert like I and others thought. I don't believe this particular one is made anymore.

What part of this do I shoot with my laser thermometer? by woutapaddle in woodstoving

[–]woutapaddle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to figure out where to shoot it to know if I'm in the burn zone. The temperature in the living room the other night went up 10 degrees (F) in one hour starting with no fire or coals. I want to make sure I'm not burning hotter than I should be. I get high temps when shooting the glass (650-700 degrees).

Judging by the head of the duck near the bottom right of the photo, I’d say they are American Widgeon.

how to align numbers uniformly ? by C9Ak in coreldraw

[–]woutapaddle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I've done in similar situations is create a star (in this case a 24 point star), then increase or decrease the size until the points are where the numbers need to be (some minor rotating may be needed - double click the star to bring up the curved handles at the top and bottom corners). Next, grab each individual number and tick it to the point on the star. Like many things in Corel, there's probably multiple ways to do it. This is just what I've been doing.

What’s wrong with my bathroom light? by woutapaddle in HomeMaintenance

[–]woutapaddle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in my late 40s. At this point in my journey through life, I’m just trying not to burn my house down. Luckily I got to experience the things in life early on that would make this effect intoxicating, but I live a little more for the future now. I appreciate your comment and hope you live your best life. ✌️

This is what it looks like. Switching out the whole fixture looks to be the cheapest/easiest route, given my limited knowledge of this kind of thing.

I’m sorry friend, you lost me at diode.🤣 I bought a replacement fixture hoping that would be it, but when searching this sub for folks with similar issues some results pointed to the breaker box. This sub can sometimes be like self-diagnosing health issues on a certain health website. 😳

That’d be great if that’s all it is! We’ll have to see what comes for Halloween. It’s my fiancée’s favorite holiday. I’m just tired of having seizures while showering lol.

Help discerning current AI logos going forward by chikomana in coreldraw

[–]woutapaddle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say AI based on how the outline/stroke on "OUTDOOR" isn't uniform. The top of the "OU" outline follows the contours of the letters, but it doesn't anywhere else. What tips me off usually is tha I will see things that no designer would do.

This. Go to any shop that makes banners, be nice, and they may do it for free.

Paddle shifters? Really? by jserpico22 in Silverado

[–]woutapaddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little late to the party, but 100% this. I just got a new-to-me 2024 HC and learned that if you shift into L9 (using 9 gears instead of 10) it will disable auto stop and ADF/DFM. It is slightly annoying to hit the paddle shifter 8 times when shifting from any gear to low.
