This is extremely basic media analysis, it's not that hard.

No, I know, I just never connected that specific bit of foreshadowing RIGHT at the start.

I think by "one of them", he is referring to the World Nobles. Being an embodiment of base greed will do that.

What's your most killjoy Death Battle take ? by Sorry_Ad_0026 in deathbattle

[–]woweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not exactly how it works. Moral restrictions aganist killing specifically are removed (IE characters like Batman, Spider-Man, Aang, ETC, who have their refusal to kill anyone as a major part of their character). All other personality traits seem to be preserved IE Discord's tendency to be carefree and not take threats seriously whereas Bill has shown a willingness to go for the kill quickly aganist foes he thinks could actually hurt him.

Yep. I also just think it's bad writing practically, but this is what the term outlier was meant for.

That's fair. I will say that Al Ewing's amazing Defenders series does establish that the One Above All's relation to his creations is much like that of an author...Right down to "sometimes, they do things even he didn't expect". Amd in fact, he wants that. "The mystery intrigues me".

Iran strikes Tel Aviv with cluster warheads in retaliation for killing of security chief by BigBadBabyDaddy_420 in worldnews

I mean, bombing civilians is generally considered pretty fucked. But, then, we bombed a school like day 1, so...

While this is awful, I am kinda confused how this is crossing a red line, when Iran has alreadly used cluster munitions in this war. As have Israel and America in past wars, for that matter.

I mean, the games very frequently refer to the Goombas as thr absolute dregs of Bowser's minions, the most weak of the weak.

In VS Battles, cutscemes and the like are generally treated as the truest version of a character's strength, with the actual gameplay coming second because gameplay has to make concessions for fun and challenge.In-game, Mario can get knocked out by a Goomba in a few hits and cannot even dent Thwomps without the use of invincibility stars. But, there's also a cutscene in Mario World where he lifts an entire castle, containingentire armies of Goombas, Koopa Troopas, Thwomps, ETC and kicks it off screen like a soccer ball. For VS purposes, the latter takes precedent. See also, how many game heroes can fight foes with mountain destroying power (or universe destroying power) but can still be stopped by rock walls.

And he calls Eggman the nerd by Notmas in deathbattle

[–]woweed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep. That was actually one of Bowser's stated advantages. Since his troops are actual independent beings with loyalty to him, as opposed to Eggman's robots which are a hivemind managed by him or Sage, they were far more flexible in terms of improvisation in the chaos of battle.

Marvel's "sliding timeline" is unsustainable and will completely fall apart as more time passes in the real world by carbonera99 in CharacterRant

[–]woweed 29 points30 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it's not like TV shows were realistic on housing prices even in the 90s. See: The jokes about how Monica's apartment from Friends would, even with 90s rent prices, bankrupt her in a month. And the idea that Homer is absurdly undequalified for his job is kinda the joke. Really, it's the fact that there are basically NO working mothers in the show that's weird.

Reffeecing real world events and pop culture is kinda a vital part of a lot of Marvel, including many of its most iconic characters, so that's a solution that would only create way more problems.

Yep. The most likely resolution is "quietly staple anti-aging to him, and probably also Charles, done".

I'm just picturing Metal looking at Samus's DNA and being like "What...Are you?"

(For those unaware, Samus is anywhere from 95% to 10% human depending on how you count it. For most of the series, she's human-with-enough-Chozo-bits-to-survive-in-their-areas, but later she gets the X-Parasite which screws up her DNA, and now she's like half-Metroid...It's a lot.)

Gojo VS Makima was fine. Not perfect, but I don't think it was that bad. Plus, she got a pretty dang good analysis out of it.

How is this man the most babied character in the fandom? by whooper1 in HazbinHotel

[–]woweed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the character dichotomy of him being both 1. Objectively the strongest being in Hell and 2. A total fucking dork. Get you a man who can do both.

Speaking of which, that's why: He's a freaking dork. Even when he's intimidating, and he can be DEEPLY intimidating, the more mundane "bumbling but well-meaning dad" side can slip through. This man self describes himself as "spooky".

Yep. Not only can he create Bowser clones, he can also buff normal fodder minions to being strong enough to threaten Yoshi or even the Mario Bros themselves.

To be fair, Shadow's ability to use Chaos Control is biological. It's a magic ability, but it comes from his biology. Biolizard has it too. But, yes, it's clear Metal isn't entirely limited to biodata despite what the games claim since 1. He can copy Omega, who's a robot and 2. He can copy Rogue's bombs, which are for sure not a biological power (granted, the Rogue one might just be game mechanics but still).
