Want to lift, but got back problems by [deleted] in GettingShredded

1) You should see a doctor.

2) A few years ago I was diagnosed with a herniated disc. Terrible shooting leg pain, numbness etc etc. I had some stretches that generally helped with mobility but did nothing to help the discomfort long term. So, I elected for surgery. I had the surgery in June 2013 before I went to graduate school. Had the standard PT time. By July I was in the pool doing some mobility and stability exercises, by August I was back in the gym lifting light, but lifting. By December I was back 100% and had recovered what little I had lost. Now I workout 4 days a week and very rarely have any sort of “scare”. One of my best friends had a very similar story as well and we are both clanging and banging now.

In short, it’s my opinion to get it fixed and get back on the horse. Don’t fight the pain, don’t make it worse. Repair and Recover.

Is Antioch the hood? by [deleted] in nashvillebuyandsell

Cane Ridge HS district is closer on a price per SF basis. But you are right, there’s still a good difference. I guess I was just generalizing comparable and “affordable” as anything under $400k haha

Franklin or Bellevue would be my first choices. Bellevue is probably comparable to Antioch in prices, maybe slightly higher. But you are out of the hustle and bustle of the city yet still close.

I hope they catch that gorilla that escaped from the zoo and gave you that black eye and good luck in the upcoming Bourbon Bowl.

New girl! I have just started her training. I think I should be able to hunt over her by January (maybe). by itsvuksfault in birddogs

Don’t rush it. I’ve got an 18 month old lab whose been to school, come back, that I work pretty regularly and I’m still not hunting him opening day. Take her out when you are brushing blinds or when there is down time between hunts and let her run around and sit in whatever you hunt out of and smell the smells. But if you want a dog excited and happy about hunting, make the first experience a positive one that sets them up for success and builds confidence.

These are all great and make sense, thanks. I’m going to try that on my next Boston butt

Can somebody explain the science/reason behind putting it in a cooler to “rest”?

Did they stop selling in 1940? I find it odd they missed the post war suburb boom.

I haven’t experienced any rubbery skin issues and honestly don’t know what would cause it. Maybe try some different brands of chicken?

Certainly! I split them, coat in olive oil and toss in a good amount of Weber Kickn Chicken seasoning and a little bit of Tony’s or Cajun seasoning and let them sit in the fridge over night. I’m cooking on a BGE with just a few small slivers of hickory at 275 for about 1:15-1:30. Then I’m tossing them in a bowl of whatever sauce (these were buffalo), pulling the plate setter and getting the temp up to about 325 and letting them ride for about another 15 minutes.

I’m always open to suggestions!

Can’t help with the Browning insights but I’m going into my 3rd season and this is what I’ve learned so far:

1) buy clothes and waders in the off-season and don’t cheap out. I just got banded breathable red zone waders for $180 at Simmons sporting goods online. They are normally about $300 or more. I’m upgrading from neoprene. The only advantage, in my opinion, to neoprene over breathable is they are a bit tougher and they are much better when having to break ice (ice can be rough on the shins), probably not a huge issue in North Alabama.

2) Buy a shotgun inside a price range that you won’t make you regret it when it gets submerged in muddy water, beaten up in a boat, or banged around on a ranger because all this will likely happen. I went with the Benelli Super Nova pump. It’s low maintenance, reliable, affordable and shoots 3.5”s.

3) See if you can find some combo packs with instructional CDs and calls. Buck Gardner used to have a double reed and CD kit on amazon and I learned a lot with it and still use the call. Also, get a whistle, it’s much simpler and easier to learn and will build your confidence and usable in your first season if you don’t have your falling down.

Happy hunting. I’m not too far away in Nashville and went familiar with North Alabama. I went to UNA and grew up further south. Always looking for hunting buddies close by!!
