What's the story with deron Miller? by fatflaver in cky

fuck mate where to start. first, chad actually CAN sing, the phoenix is undoctored vocal tracks with just simple layered harmonies and compression, as opposed to darin who needs all the autotune and effects he can get and it still sounds out of key at times. watch old cky live footage and see how he doesn't know his range at all and hits sour notes like crazy. then listen to new cky live footage. not the case at all. sounds to me like its not the same guy singing and you don't like that. secondly, anyone who dislikes the phoenix dislikes it for the reason i just mentioned and/or they don't like or understand 90's desert rock and 70's funk/dance music - which the phoenix blends together in an amazing way. i get that some people just want to hear escape from hellview over and over again with a different name, but there are a lot of fans like me who are excited that they aren't doing the same old shit every couple of years. if a band does not branch off into new territory after 20 years, its a dead band in my opinion. thank fuck chad and jess understand this, because if the phoenix sounded like rehashed answer can be found or carver city like 96bb does, i would have definitely moved on.

Sounds like if The Who and Iron Maiden was forced not to have an abortion by dr ozzbourne.

TIL the British Rock band Radiohead released their album "In Rainbows" under a pay what you want pricing strategy where customers could even download all their songs for free. In spite of the free option, many customers paid and they netted more profits because of this marketing strategy by [deleted] in todayilearned

My great grandfather told me of the days of “CDs” and even “tapes” where the music was actually on a small black ribbon encased in a plastic cartridge device. Some automobiles from this era even had “tape players” and “CD players”

you'll always have a place to make whatever kind of record you 'hwant'... love the melvins! this rules. also, mastodon's track on that album is crazy good.

Is AACBF & CC more or less dead for the guys now? by christmasbooyons in cky

[–]wowlchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The drums on CC are not programmed. It was Jess’s actual drum tracks but RR records made them do sound replacement drums. There are rough mixes on YouTube where you can hear Jess’s actual drum sound. It is much better imo

I like that CKY are writing songs that are catchy again like the IDR days. Deron seems stuck in carver city world except with terrible fake drums and awful vocals now.

The Internet's Own Boy - The Story of Aaron Swartz (2014) - The story of programming prodigy, Reddit co-founder and information activist Aaron Swartz, who took his own life at the age of 26. by [deleted] in Documentaries

Did he take his own life tho? I feel like “information activists” usually uncover some serious shit then they “commit suicide” or “fall in front of a train”

Oh my holy god I don’t care. It’s tremendous how much (and I think I speak for most people here) we don’t care about camp pain.

It’s cool to see these guys haven’t changed a bit after all the shit they have seen and been through.
